Description
So, here is the map of 'The Europes' that will make up the BG of the Moorehawke Trilogy poster.Razi, Christopher and Wynter will be in the foreground, just as they are portrayed here [link] only ( of course) they'll be inked and in colour. I'm not sure if the publishers are going to want text added to the poster, but there's plenty of scope for putting titles in should they be needed.
Next up, I'll work on a colour version of the character and see how they look against the map.
But first, to bed, because it's half three in the morning and I'm a wee bit shattered.
Later folks.

Just curious, how did you come up whith the name (the duchy of) Hadra & Hollis? Because in modern times, there are no regions in the Netherlands/Belgium/Germany that have those names. And since you used Europe as a base for your world, I'm very curious about the etymology of Hadra and Hollis.
And I also wanted to mention that I absolutely love your books! I'm currently rereading Troon van Gif (Poisen Throne, I believe?) and De schaduwen van de Dood so I can read the Rebel Prince which I got for my birthday. I want to thank you for the joy your books give me while reading them

Hi Josiwomel,
I'm so sorry to have taken this long to get back to you. I hope you don't think me too rude. I'm absolutely delighted to hear that you've enjoyed The Poison Throne and The Crowded Shadows. I really hope that Rebel Prince is a satisfying conclusion to the story for you (and happy birthday!)
Harda and Hollis are two quite random choices really. Hollis I chose because I wanted to use something reminiscent of Holland, but a little divorced from the actual name. So I corrupted it to Hollis. Hadra is actually the result of a typo! I had originally called that duchy Hydra (due to it being a strong merchant place (therefore with many 'heads' stretching out into world) and also because much of it was below sea level. However my spellchecker must have changed it, or I must have mistyped it, because it ended up as Hadra and I never noticed - right til the end. By the time I got around to drawing up the maps, the name had stuck and I was fond of it and there we have it : )
I hope that answers your question satisfactorily! Thanks so much, again, for having taken the time to write to me.
All the very best
Celine

Very interesting thought about Hydra with its many heads! Thank you for sharing it. I'm looking forward to read the Rebel Prince, and find out how your trilogy ends!

I finished your last Moorehakwe book and I have to say it, I just loved it! It was a true revelation to find out what those blood machines actually are and it's very interesting to think about what the consequences are of those machines in a time when the most common weapons are just swords and daggers. And the plot twist at the end with Razi was just.. asdfgjkl! I also thought while reading that your Haun (Haunardii? I don't know for sure, because I read the Dutch version) are actually the Huns, based on the information you give about their way of living, their whereabouts and looks.
Having said al that, I want to thank you for your great writing and I hope we will see more of this world (there is so much culture and lands left unexplored!)in the future, perhaps starring Wynter and her friends again, or perhaps starring new characters..

Yeay!!! I'm so delighted that the ending satisfied you! I really wanted to be realistic re the possibilities and consequences of the machines ( and also Jon and Lorcan's guilt re the first time they were used)and yes, poor Razi, he had a hard row to furrow throughout the whole thing didn't he?
The Haun were based more on the Mongols (I have always been interested in Ghengis Khan, and was reading a biography of him at the time) But excellent guess! There are plenty of similarities between the two and (as far as I can recall from my very limited knowledge of the Huns) there is some speculation that the Hun actually originated in Mongolia.
I would very much like to write two other Moorehawke books - one set the year Wynter was born and telling the story of Borchu, Lorcan and Jonathon and their invention of the machines (also the story of Wyn's and Albi's and Razi's mothers)The other story is set shortly after Rebel Prince ended - telling the story of Sรณl, Christopher, Wyn and Razi heading North into Marguerite's Kingdom to tackle a supernatural threat among the Merron there. Alas, my publishers are more interested in my other stories for the moment - but hopefully one day I will get to finish what I started with Moorehawke
Thank you again, so much, for your kindness and for taking the time let me know you'd finished the trilogy. I can't tell you how happy it makes me that you liked it right to the end!!!

Is there anywhere the map can be bought?
Or printed?
My mate's birthday's coming up and she's a massive fan of the Moorehawke trilogy, introduced me to them too

It part of the fold out cover of the Irish first edition, but I have no idea where you'd find one of those. There used to be a really great poster of it too - with the book superimposed over it - but I haven't been able to get my hands on one of those for years.
Feel free to download this version if you like, and print it out, I won't mind Tell your friend happy birthday from Celine, I'm delighted she liked the books (and that you did too!!)
