Description Here is the ink of Wynter and Razi from the Razi chapter of The Poison Throne, Volume One of the MooreHawke Trilogy.

I am totally inexperienced when it comes to cross-hatching. In fact it scares the poop out of me. But I really wanted a fire-danced shadows effect on the BG here. Took a lot of bottle to keep building up those layers of shadow, I have to tell you, but I like the final effect. I wonder how it will look in colour. Only one way to find out :0)

If you would like to see the blue sketch of this, you can find it here ( along with some text from the scene it illustrates ) [link]

If you would like to see the colour version, it is here [link]

Would love your comments.

Are you kidding! You can comment all you like! I love to get comments!

I've just finished writing the last book in the MooreHawke Trilogy [link] and so I've finished with doing MooreHawke drawings now for a while

(all the drawings you have seen are from The Poison Throne. When the next book The Crowded Shadows is coming out I shall do a few from that :0))

I'm not sure if you'd like my sci-fi work, but for the next few months I'm going to be prepping my artwork for my Graphic Novel [link]

I would have to contrdict the view of the wall being too dark because i personally love! the contrast and it automatically cathes your eye onto Wynter and Razi, which is the point, right?
And as for someone unexperienced, C, i think you did a very impressive job with the cross-hatching and well done!!
Can't wait to see the color D

Thank you so much, darling! I'm so glad you think the crosshatching worked.

It was a contrast that I was looking for and I tend to think that a big fire would throw very deep shadows. But I always apreciate honesty when people comment, that's how I learn. :0D

I'm working away on the colour, maaaaaannn, haaaarrrrdddd! LOL. It might be a while :0)

Thanks again, babe! Hope you're having a good day!

i used to work with a lot of cross-hatching before but i got bored and started the whole shading etc which i think looks better

it would indeed but its gonna be a pain to do the color as you said but then again, it'll be well worth it cos im sure it'll look great in the book

yes, apart from my friends farting its all good D

looks pretty good for it being on the wrong side of the and bleedy inks. I'm not a big fan of crosshatching either . I think the walls are too dark though with a huge fire like that in the oven I think it'd cast more light on the wall with a gradiant like effect. other then that job well done.

Thank you so much, MrJ! Crosshatching is such a weird thing to work with, isn't it? I'm more a stark black and white person usually, but that just wouldn't have worked here. It was exciting and scary to try something different here :0)
