Testing shading with my new tablet, used a picture I did a bit ago, which was lacking shading... for a first try, I find it came out pretty nice. Comment, fav, enjoy!Related content

ok so, AWESOME artwork. This comment is not gonna be as awesome as what I have originally planned because my brain is malfunctioning right now. So, she seems anime like, especiallly with the face, but you may have intended to do that Try not to be so stiff and crude with outlines, it makes the drawing looks cartoonish. And for the shading, you've seem to use only one color for each section, using diff shades of it for shading. Mix it up, gives it more character. When doing details, like creases on the shirt, do more shading on them. They look awkward if they are left only as crude stiff lines on the shirt. And the details on the pants could use more attention to. I CAN SEE HER BELLY BUTTON. naughty daddy naughty. And when doing hair, try and add more detail, otherwise it would just look plain and flat, and without character. When drawing the body, try and emphasize muscle tone, or fat flabs.....givesmore character. BAM! oh yeah, did not fall asleep while typing this. HA! NICE WORK!! LOVE IT!!!! <3

And yeah, things taken into consideration, I sucked at this point, think it was like, the third thing I did on the tablet xD Or wait... It might have been the first.....

Since you requested criticism, I'll say something.
Overall, I think you have a very good understanding of anatomy here, so you're well on your way. The fingers look a bit stiff, which I know the feeling personally; hands are a pain to draw. ><
Another thing is the skin, which can also be a challenge. What I would suggest when you're shading/lightning don't limit yourself to just the shades and lights of a specific color. Try to experiment with others close to it In the case of this character, try to see if you could through a hint of oranges and reds, particularly in shaded regions. Unless her skin is actually a offset yellow then maybe try to play around with nearby yellows and greens.. Also, keep in mind of the lighting. Even if there's one light source, it has the tendency to reflect off objects and wrap around them. Think about that and see if you can use that to your advantage.
As much as it might suck, there's no guarantee you'll get the dream piece you're looking for. It's all a matter of practice and experimenting. As I said you're well on your way. =3
