Porcelain vase with Copper Sand raku glaze and raku firing.The name of the glaze is Copper Sand Raku, and the recipe is as followed:
- Gorstly Borate 1200 grams
- Bone Ash 300 g
- Copper Carb 75 g
- Cobalt Carb 37.5 g
and Tin Oxide 18 g

Correct Some glazes are fairly dependable, and after several uses you of a glaze you can get a pretty good idea of what to expect. But there are a lot of factors in the process itself that can create unexpected effects or colors ^^

Well..not being an exact science..the suspense
in the firing must keep you on pins and needles!
I remembet working in the darkroom with film..to find ashot tha turned out even better than expected..

Really beautiful. I did some raku style glazing and firing on some clay roof tiles a few years back that turned out absolutely stunning. They make great show pieces. Raku has to be my favorite style of glazing. Again, this is an absolutely beautiful piece. Congratulations on the DD. It is very well deserved.
