Birdfolk(The High and Mighty)
- It is difficult to tell whether the supposed "origins" of the Birdmen are the truth, or simply shameless self-promotion. The reason for this is because the Birdmen, as a race, claim to have been the offspring of Angels. Couplings between Elves/Humans and Choir Angels who sought to fight against Rahab's evil, and bring peace to the races of Cauldron, soon after the Ascension of Land. As a result of this, they tend to emulate the supposed behaviors of Angels themselves, living in a community guarded by pearly gates and clouds, while remaining literally "higher" above all the others. That is, physically thousands of feet higher into the air. Whilst others use their wings, and airships to travel and explore the world.
As high a society as they are, they are not immune to the troubles that have been plaguing the world below them. Specifically in that they are the biggest target of the Feathered Serpents, for it is believed that sacrificing a sufficient number of Birdfolk can allow for a Blood Ritual that grants Sea Serpents the ability to fly. And retake the skies. As widespread as Birdfolk are, this has made them very afraid for themselves, and near-instinctively seek company of their own. That is...wherever they may find fellow Birdfolk. IF they can find them. Because their time to band together is running out, so long as the Feathered Serpents continue their assault on Cauldron.
------------------
Centaur(The Formerly Savage)
- The Centaurs have had a rather unfortunate reputation in older times. Back then, they were a tribal, barbaric, and patriarchal people, whose men were almost solely focused on gaining strength, asserting dominance, drinking, and acting on lustful urges. And reacting to other races with utmost hostility and violence. Things had been this way up until the mightiest tribe of Centaurs, the Ixion Clan, had been allowed to vindicate themselves of past crimes, and potentially open up trade with other races...as long as they can attend a Royal Wedding without causing an incident. Something that sounded easy enough, until the all-male Centaur party attending got drunk at the party. And thus attempted to carry off all of the women present, instigating an incident known as the Centauromachy.
An incident which had been stamped out...by none other than the FEMALES that they ordered to stay at home! Wives, daughters, sisters, and girlfriends had all come to the wedding, not to join the males in their drunken rampage. But to beat their loved ones to their senses. And declare the male Centaurs a disgrace unworthy of leading their society. From that day forward, Centaur society had become Matriarchal, regulating males to manual labor, while the females fight and lead the clans. As other Kingdoms helped them achieve this, Centaur society had become renowned for being incredible archers, and renowned blacksmiths whose crafts are prized all around Cauldron. All while more recent generations of male Centaurs make their earnest attempt to dissociate themselves from the classless brutes that came before them.

Chromatic Dragons(The Keepers of Elemental Magic)
- COMING SOON
-------------------
Cyclops(The Cunning Giants)
- Cyclopes are considered "giants", even though they are technically half-giants, what with them being "shorter" than others. (I.e. around 15-20 feet tall on average). However, what makes them particularly special is their incredible smarts. Cunning, keen, and analytical, these half-giants use their single eye to analyze and perceive things in great details, resulting in quick wits and sharp tongues. Something that couldn't be implemented so well before, because giants were more valued for their physical strength and hard labor. Cyclopes in particular were held by the Elves in very low regard, seen as little more than weak giants who try to weasel their way out of tough situations
On the other hand, when the Dwarves dethroned Elvish rule, the Cyclopes were especially quick to join their ranks and integrate into their society. Finding many sorts of new tasks that made excellent use of their analytical eye. Including detective-work, research, designing, and most famously, espionage. Their huge size does NOTHING stop them from being unusually effective spies.
--------------------
Dark Elves(The Crass Combatants)
- This warrior-like race with a sardonic attitude, crude tongue, and a weakness for alcohol and battle had developed on a Fallen Kingdom. Years upon years of fighting off foes in the seas had made them cynical, and more willing to spare no expense when tearing apart foes with axes and warhammers. Their solitude for so many years had also made them a tightly knit people, if not incredibly vulgar and unrefined among their own. So much so that even their children are given to drinking and profanity. In other words, they are much like how the Dwarves used to be.
Even so...attempts to integrate them into Cauldron's society above have had mixed results, because their solitude has made them extremely clumsy at social interaction. So, to make themselves a decent living while living in the midst of more "sensitive" folks, Dark Elves often get themselves employed as mercenaries. Drunken, boorish mercenaries who get the job done, and look incredible doing it, but have absolutely no class. The Dwarves especially cringe at the sight of them, reminded of their similarly crude, classless demeanor in the past.
--------------------
Dwarves(The Machine Makers)
- They are the ones who have changed everything. They had once been the vulgar, blunt-speaking beer-swilling, ax-wielding warriors from before. NOT because this is what their people is usually like. But simply out of an attempt by the High Elves to keep the Dwarves dumbed down, only good for grunt work, and incapable of complex thought. And by extension, incapable of rebellion. Something that changed when one of their own found technology hidden within the Earth...and became uplifted.
Now...Dwarves are a scientific folk. One of the most intelligent, innovative (and ruggedly good looking) people in Cauldron, they have made their former mines into hubs for research, testing, and industrial production. Although in the process, they have done away with so many of the old traditions that have made them distinguished as a people. Their greed, alcoholism, hatred for Elves, brutish combat tactics, boastfulness...they had simply decided to move past that, because that's what they were like when they were slaves. And they want to move on, and never look back.
----------------------
Florina(The Plants in Peril)
- The flower folk known as the Florina had once lived in the Garden Kingdom in great numbers. Something that results from a drive to quickly increase their numbers, in order to counter their vulnerability to the elements. This particular race of plant-folk is marked by a giant flower in place of a lower body, adorably youthful appearance, sweet and shy attitude, ability to change gender on a whim, a very simple culture, and a mass-pollination ritual that occurs every 5 years. And in the past, while they were present in many other Kingdoms for their beauty, the Garden Kingdom was always their central population.
That is...up until a disaster occurred. A mysterious cult (NOT the Feathered Serpents, but another, lesser known one) poisoned the water supply of the Garden Kingdom with a mixture of medicinal herbs, poisonous weeds, and...nanobots. Technology. That which, through the water cycle, tainted the clouds, and made an acid rain upon the whole of the island, transforming them into Alraune. Overly endowed, poisonous plants who grow too rapidly for their bodies to handle, and lead a painful, dying existence. That is unless...they drink blood, to treat the poison's deadlier effects. This had spelled the doom of the Garden Kingdom's Florina, and led to its new status as a Fallen Kingdom, now dubbed the Jungle Kingdom. And had instilled terror and fear of extinction in what little Florina populations still remain throughout Cauldron. Now...they are critically endangered. And they can't afford to wait 5 more years to mass-pollinate.

Fruit Vampires(The Nectar Drinkers)

Gem Dragons(The Keepers of Creation Magic)
- (COMING SOON)
----------------------
Ghosts(The Guides From the Grave)
- The only way to become a ghost is to be cursed into one, forced to walk the Earth past one's death. A dangerous and hateful act which draws upon the user's own life force, and increases the likelihood of being targeted by demons. But ensures that their target will never find peace in the afterlife. Not unless THEY die, breaking the curse. Thus, it's understandable that so many ghosts have acted bitter and spiteful, to the point of taking out their rage on people who've done nothing to them, and seeking to only move on after completing unfinished business. Acts which have caused ghosts to be regarded with terror, and even less likely to escape their fate.
That is, until something incredible happened: some ghosts have broken the cycle of hatred. By not focusing on their revenge. But on working around difficulties imposed by being a ghost, and earning a helping hand out of their fate, by using their un-life wisely. Today, Ghosts are the voices for those who cannot speak. They are the social workers for broken homes. Childminders for orphans. Protectors of the young, saviors of the abused, and guardians of the outcast. This new, benevolent attitude is present in so many ghosts today, out of a genuine effort to be seen not as terrifying monsters, but as people again, as they were in life. And from the new wave of ghosts who've escaped their curses, it has been paying off.
----------------------
Goblins(The Badass Bike-Patrol)
- (COMING SOON)
----------------------
Guardian Dragons(The Royal Guardians)
- These Dragons are considered an offshoot from regular Dragons, because they were bred to essentially be guard dogs. First birthed and employed during the Days of Dark Lords, young Guardian Dragons were appointed to keep vigil over princesses (and sometimes princes) in castles, as ferocious monsters. An important duty to support the schemes of Dark Lords, as princess/prince-kidnapping was a tool of political leverage. This was a time when it was common to hire knights to slay these dragons, in hopes of saving, and marrying these kidnapped bluebloods.
However, as time went on, this all ended in failure, as the dragons tended to fall in love with the royalty they were supposed to guard! And as a result, saved more Kingdoms than they destroyed, out of a desire to impress their would-be captives. This had resulted in a good chunk of future generations having dragon blood in their bloodline. In Half-Dragons being seen as royalty. As in Guardian Dragons continuing to uphold their duties as guardians of royalty. But this time, not as monsters, but as Royal Knights. The best of them all.
----------------------
High Elves(The Fallen Elites)
- They had once crowned themselves the greatest of all races in Cauldron. Being vastly long-lived, intelligent, graceful, sophisticated, harmonious with nature, proficient at beautiful crafts, and powerful in war...they knew they were that much higher above others. And sought to conquer every race they came across, simply "for their own good". Forcibly integrating these same people into their infrastructure, placing themselves on top of the social pyramid. However...it was precisely this sort of arrogance that led to their downfall, as it had begun excessive infighting among their own, and eventually a Civil War. An war which left the Elven Races crumbled, divided, humiliated, and ultimately upstaged by the Dwarves.
These days...only a small number of purists, The Blades of Freyr, refuse to accept this loss, and seek to re-conquer the Kingdoms of Cauldron. While many others are well aware that the Dwarves have earned their place in society. And have since then relegated themselves to the status of wandering artists, craftsmen, performers, and intellectuals, still able to bring things of beauty into the world, even if they are no longer dominant. The worst they can get these days is being pompous about their artistic skill, but they are hardly the conquerors they once were. After all...if they REALLY wanted to remain on top, they should have never had a Civil War.
----------------------
Holstaurs(The Cowgirls of Cauldron)
- There's a reason why the Holstaurs are so much more revered than their male counterparts. Because like various other races with strong males, they had fallen into the trap of being "Dungeon Bait". I.e. they were either one of the dime-a-dozen scary and brutal monsters fought and defeated for treasure or experience, or they were one of the dime-a-dozen proud warriors with a weakness for extreme violence and warfare. As well as a terrible attitude in general. All throughout history, Minotaurs remained rather obscure in Cauldron society...because their race was far more valued for their women.
From the very beginning, female Minotaurs, known as Holstaurs, were known for being half-cow, half-human, and tend to come in two main flavors! First being the busty, rootin'-tootin', free-spirited cowgirls, who can use sexuality and strength as bargaining chips equally well, and take life by the horns to keep their families and homes safe. As well as unleash their inner bull to charge forth, and wipe out the opposition in one fell swoop! Second being the also-busty, gentle, and generous mothers, caretakers and farmers, who keep the easily-angered Minotaurs happy, the fields watered, and their babes well fed and laughing. Those who see symbolic significance and spiritual joy in giving love and life to others, and look forward to a time of year they call "Calving Season". I.e. simply descriptive of the perfect time of year for pregnant mothers to give birth, or adopt a child, so new life may enjoy the fruits of nature and their hard work, and learn about the world around them. The Holstaurs' ability to be BOTH of these things has contributed to their ability to surpass the Minotaurs, and become beloved throughout Cauldron.
----------------------
Humans(The Wild Cards)
- The human race was once regarded as one of the mediocre races out there. Short-lived, easily bested by others in strength, average in magic, too many jerks to be considered "good", too many kindhearted folks to be considered "evil"...they were just the average jack-of-all-trades. And similar to the Wood Elves, easily enslaved by the High Elves during the rule of the Elvish Empire, and traded away to all corners of the world. However, humanity did have two things that set them apart from other slave races: adaptability, and resolve. That which allowed them to thrive and keep true to themselves, even as slaves.
And unlike the Wood Elves...upon being freed by the Dwarves, they never stayed trapped in the past. The human race continued to spread to other Kingdoms, able to adapt to each one's local climate and culture. Good or bad, intelligent or idiotic, brave or cowardly, generous or selfish, honest or deceitful, peaceful or violent, the outspread nature of humanity has made them known for being incredibly individualistic and variable in attitude. And therefore, EXTREMELY difficult for other races to read. Therefore, humans are often regarded with a sense of respect and caution, until one knows who they're dealing with a bit better. Albeit perhaps their most respectable accomplishment is the establishment of the Wire Kingdom. A Kingdom where humanity's best qualities show, including the innovation to craft ingenious creations with both technology and magic. As well as a place where its most questionable qualities show, ESPECIALLY regarding the bizarre ways mankind entertains itself. Seriously, have you SEEN what those guys have been looking up on their crystal balls?

Metallic Dragons(The Keepers of Holy Magic)

Naga (The Rebel Children of Rahab)
- One thing that must be said about the leviathan Rahab is that he is equally evil towards all living things. Even including his own children, and THEIR children, who he frequently forced himself on to produce more monstrous offspring. His first mate being Hafgufa, Rahab's daughter hatched from an egg he laid via parthenogenesis. And among those who came next, there was Anna-Shesha. A many-headed sea-serpent, and Hafgufa's daughter, prompting Rahab to lay with her too. And produce the Naga as a result of their coupling, however unwilling it was. Regardless of what direction and alignment they took after witnessing Anna-Shesha's death, all Naga agreed to never give Rahab the satisfaction of having them be obedient to him.
(MORE COMING SOON)
----------------------
Orcs(The Noble Knights)
- Orcs were often treated with discrimination in the past, and stereotyped as being barbaric warriors, because two world wars were instigated by Orc Nations. Thus, popular media back then was laden with racist depictions of orcs, labeling them as "pig-noses", "greenskins", "blackbloods", and other slurs of that same vein. However, those who truly look at their peoples' history find them to be nothing like this! But rather, as a militaristic, yet honorable society, prizing dignity, sound tactics, and skill above all else. A people who hold victory and defeat with the same level of sportsmanship, and see the value in remaining true to their word, for better or worse.
Yes, Orcs many partake in brutish sports and hobbies, including Orcish Wrestling, which encourages participants to play the role of either "Knight" or "Barbarian". Yes, their social skills make them come off as blunt. But none of this takes away from the fact that Orc knights are among the most consistently noble and chivalrous in all of Cauldron. And that for all of the hardships that Orcs have endured or caused in the past, many of them are trying to make things work now. And luckily, things have been paying off, what with the increased likelihood of Orc knights being engaged and married to royalty they rescue.
---------------------
Spectrals(The Vessel Keepers)
- (COMING SOON)
--------------------
Trolls(The Merchant Folk)
- They had once been an unfortunate folk. One of many races enslaved by the High Elves, they had rebelled against their captors, in an event known as the Jontar Rebellion. Only to be cursed with the Sun's Vigil Charm, which would kill the trolls when exposed to sunlight. Thus dooming them to a life under bridges, eating goats, and hiding from their former comrades. An especially petty move by the High Elves, to put the Trolls in their place for their insolence.
That is, until the Dwarves had surpassed the High Elves, and broke the curse on them. While Trolls still come in many sizes, shapes and attitudes, many use their ancient wisdom and technical expertise to assist the dwarves, and offer them economical support. Most famously, with the help of the "Troll Market", which is known for selling magical goods, and now, Dwarven technology.
---------------------
Trwyth(The Beast Tamers)
- The origins of the boar-people known as the Trwyth are shrouded in legend. It is said that the Trwyth today are the descendants of huge boar creatures with poisonous spines, who had helped new populations of Elves survive on their land, by fighting off the local wildlife who sought to devour them. And allowing them enough time to create settlements. An act of animal altruism that these Elves of yore had ultimately rewarded with sapience. That is, by using a blessed comb and scissors to grant them intelligence, via cutting and styling their hair into a more organized and civilized form.
Whether or not the Trwyth really DID become smarter by getting their hair done, the fact remains that they have always held the Elves in reverence. Even during the rule of the Elvish Empire, where they happily served their masters, and were rewarded for their loyalty. Even today, continuing to show compassion and admiration towards the Elves, even when events have pretty much turned them into punchlines! And just as they had so many years ago, they show expertise in hunting, and taming the beasts of wild lands. As well as setting up a Monarchy-based government among themselves, with size determining who gets to be King and Queen.
---------------------
Wood Elves(The Druids in Denial)
- They were once a simplistic folk, living in forests, and living perfectly in harmony with nature, doing no harm to animals, while cultivating plants to great beauty. Those who would provide the Elves with bountiful harvests of fruit in return. A peaceful life that had lasted, up until they were enslaved by the High Elves, taken from each other's families, and traded away to all corners of the world. A cycle of servitude and erasure of their traditions that continued all the way up until the Dwarves had finally stamped out the Elvish dominion. Even so...after having been freed, they became divided.
Those who went back to the forests want to THINK of themselves as harmonious with nature, and morally superior to others. But...they rely far too much on magic. They're addicted to it. For it's all they've ever known under the High Elves, and they cannot bring themselves to move on without it, denying any offer to advance with technology. Meanwhile, other Wood Elves continue to live a long way from home, and works as servants, maids and custodians. Whatever the case may be...it can be agree that Wood Elves are simply bad at dealing with change.

I forgot, will we see some "alien" races here too? Or is that for HSIS only?

Centaurs also enjoy an excellent relationship with both the Dwarves and the Holstaurs.
It's not uncommon to see a Holstaur caring for a young Centaur who's mother died in battle, and Dwarven bronze armor has so far been the only thing capable of withstanding a Centaur's blade. In fact, most Centaurs who want to take up smithing as a trade learn their craft from a Dwarf.

These are all really interesting! and I definitely look forward to hearing more about the ones that are to come. In truth, I had the beginnings of an idea for a Cyclops race but didn't want to overload you with my ideas, so I didn't pursue it. But the these ones are pretty cool too. Besides, my idea didn't get further than "They live in mountainous areas, are smaller than giants but still big enough to intimidate, and their culture is a lot like the Amish in that they decided to halt their own technological advancement." So yeah, not much to them. Anyway, I like the ones here much better.
Why did the boar-people have to have such an unpronounceable name? There's only one vowel in it and it's a Y!
I like what you did with the Florina. I guess they WOULD be brought to other places, some of them also still carrying seeds. They decide where and when to plant their offspring, the Mass-Pollination Ritual is more like a fertility festival that conceives the seeds. But yes, they will most likely change it to 3 years, or only 1 if things are truly so desperate. The cultists that poisoned their people and their land won't pursue them. They have already accomplished their goal and care not for finding the remaining Florina. Of course, The Florina don't know this. So yeah, they'd be scared and paranoid. Though their cute appearance will definitely endear them to others who can make them feel safer. Maybe, as a relief program, they can be given greenhouses to live in and raise a family. Though their tendency to be topless might cause trouble in some societies. They are naturalists and much too innocent to see their small breasts as being offensive to anyone. They can at least accept making nectar-extraction something to do in private though. If their nectar is stored for too long it becomes hazardous to their health and it makes their breasts swell-up in the "allergic reaction" way. Not good, and not pretty. They only make their breasts medium-sized during this process because it helps them get the nectar flowing. It's more viscous than breastmilk, so it requires more to grab onto while squeezing it out. Less viscous than honey though....maybe maple syrup is a good analogy for it.

It's because the Trwyth name is Welsh as the species is named after an enchanted boar from Arthurian legend, Twrch Trwyth.
Wikipedia has it's pronunciation. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twrch_…
