Description Big gets asked to do something for Mr.Poe, and well, Big never backs down from a challenge, no matter how shifty the contractor.

"Tell ya what. Fill up that bag with the shinny things I like and I'll give you something worth your time. I'm good for it."

Big scoffed, eyeing the scrawny suka propositioning him. Mr. Poe was grinning broadly, shrewd eyes glancing over Big’s unimpressed snarl. The large hound hated having to do anything at all, especially something so dull as collecting things from a cottage- it all just felt like a trap.

“It’s not even far big guy” Mr. Poe murmured, tilting his head to drop the bag at Big’s feet. They locked eyes for a long moment, shrewd versus irritated and then the tension broke as Big gave a laborous sigh. He dipped his large head down, picking up the satchel’s loop with his teeth and slinging it around his neck with a small shake of his head. It sat easily on his shoulder, the leather barely weighing anything at all- not that it would have mattered much either way- Big could haul far more than a briefcase.
“Look for anything pretty, anything valuable, hm? Go on then. It’s right there. Think of all the happy orphans that you’ll brings smiles to.” the smaller suka nodded down into the valley at where the cottage stood, his grin broadening as he watched Big suppress a growl.

“If you don’t repay me for your garbage I will put your head inside this bag and wear it for fashion” Big snapped before heading down the hill, his feet steadfast as he trotted downward into the valley.

It was one of the few green areas left, the large but sparse pine trees dusted across the countryside. The trees were barely enough to count as shelter but Big was not approaching stealthily. He had learned that he could down almost anything that threatened him and it made him a little foolhardy at times- especially with Mr. Poe watching him from the ridge. Big would rather die than be seen as a coward.

The cottage grew on the horizon as Big approached, his steps getting lighter as he became more tentative.
There had to be a reason why Mr. Poe did not want to venture into this house. There had to be something wrong.

And so Big listened out, tilting his head and inhaling, but there seemed to be no sign of anything afoot. He glanced back to where he had talked with the shady suka but saw nothing.

A little part of him made Big think that he had just been baited out and left for dead, that there would be some vicious, infested beast lurking in the shadows of this cottage ready to strike. That concern grew the further he approached but he pressed on, steps almost silent as he hunched down, moving towards the doorway.

The cottage looked old and dilapidated. At first it had seemed in good repair but then Big had turned just a little more of the corner and noted the gaping hole in the northern wall. It looked big enough to fit a good sized bear and well, that was not quite a pleasant thought.

Big slunk around and inspected this fabricated entrance, inhaling deeply at the soil before it. It seemed like a chunk of the wall had just been blown out at some point, rubble lying outside- plants starting to cover the broken bricks.
He padded closer, scenting the dust and debris though nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

Big’s hair stood on end as he ducked down and slunk into the cottage, peering around as his eyes adjusted to the dingy interior.

It certainly did not look like much. Big had been in these kinds of houses before- homes left in a hurry, the cupboards thrown open and everything littering the floor in the rush to get to safety. He gently nudged a small box with his nose, watching the dust displace and forcing down a sneeze so bad his eyes watered.

His long tail dragged in the dirt behind him as he inspected the hallway, glass glinting like treasure from broken picture frames, the wallpaper peeling down from all ends and grass pushing through the carpet.

“Pirate treasure” he scoffed lightly under his breath, his lip curling with irritation, “as if anyone would hide something in this heap of misfortune.”

He nudged at some drawers, pulling them open to see there was nothing inside, his irritation growing. Nothing was worse for Big than having to make an effort, the suka was lazy to his very core.

But alas this seemed like a job where he would have to actually do something. He looked around with a heavy sigh, regretting his decision already as he steeled himself for the monotony of nuzzling through old, dusty and filthy things in the search for anything shiny to appease Mr Poe.
A hitman job would have been more pleasant than any of this, thought Big, as he started to search the place.
