Behold! Not one, but two new designs! An expansion of the Wizal arsenal: www.deviantart.com/tnc-n3cl/ar…
Apologizes for the large image with so much stuff going on...
While the General Rod is designed for flexibility and ease of use for lower ranked mages, these Advanced Rods are intended for specialist troops. Each Specialist's Rod is fitted with an Elemental Crystal and gemstone aligned with their chosen elemental specialty. (For example, a Pyromancer would use a Fire Aligned Crystal and a Ruby.) While a Generalist could summon a fireball, a Pyromancer can rain down fire across a wide area if they so desired. I only showed three specialists to mach with BotW's trifecta, but the other elements shown in the General Rod are available here (just don't have names for them yet). These Elemental Crystals are not available within Hyrule's borders.
Specialists get silver rods, Masters get gold rods, and Archmages get spiky decorations and bits of jade inset into their rods. (If you've read "The Ballad of Kass, Ch. 4," then you may remember Koquin. He'd have the gold Master's Rod, with an amethyst inserted since he's a Shadow element specialist.) Specialists can know some weaker spells outside of their chosen element.
The Crystal uses "Gray Glass" for the exterior, "Blue Glass" for the interior, and elemental colors for the inner structure. Not sure why the gray color isn't showing up in all the pics...
Anywho... The second rod is a Thaumaturgist's Rod. Thaumaturgists are support mages: casting barriers, treating wounds, and creating maps and such.
