Description The shelves
Are a maze of earthy brown
Varnished
They gleam dully
Contaminated by the sickly glow
Of the fluorescent
Ceiling lights

They drown
Suffocated by
Stacks of snow-capped mountains
Of orange

Behind the smoky haze
The color of a dying sunset
A stifling
Disturbingly vibrant
Rainbow facade
Takes its shape

Only a mask
It veils the cruel reality
For masks only hide
That which we do not wish to see

The sun-dappled hours:
A blur of
White plastic
Drapery
Mumbling
Hushed voices

When enveloped in
A dank sheath of velvet
And studded with
Tarnished rhinestones:
Furtive glanes
Wrinkled brows
Red-painted frowns

Pumped my veins with
Chemicals
And magic

Words of comfort
Solace
Unspoken pity:
A form of condescension
Unexplored

Unfixable
A marionette
Severed
Tangled strings

They tell me everything is
Fine
"Developments"

But I do not want this
Artificial life
Despite the
Laborious task
Of
Keeping me
Alive

Their efforts remain
Unappreciated:

I long
For a
Sweet
Release
That
Will never
Come

Myth-of-Creation [2012-09-30 02:38:30 +0000 UTC]

The despair in this poem isn't played up or emphasized, it just is, it's perceived rather than stated and as such it's powerful. Amazing poem.
