Number 3! Phew! I think I am all tutorialed out for the day now, hehehe. You never know though, I suppose there is the toadz personal favourite of latex to cover yet...I'll try and drop a few props in the next one to cover things like wood. If there is any other clothing materials etc people would like me to try and cover, let me know.

Everything looks good, buddy. Just a suggestion on stockings, and I found this by simply adding 2+2 in another knowledge I have. Light shadow bias... The shadow problems really are the light(s)'s problem, not stocking surfaces. Shadow bias is a point in which shadows start showing up. The smaller the number is, the more quicker the shadow starts. So, say if there were those blotches in your stocking in your render, and you look at your lights' shadow bias, if it's set to 0.10, then reduce the number to 0.05 and spot render that area. You should see changes. My settings is always 0.10 till I use something like stockings which are tight against the skin.
I have found the shadow bias solution when I was seeing a "skipping" in shadows between the character's hair and their head, that "clear" spot always annoyed me, then when I asked about that, someone told me to set my shadow bias lower. In doing this and experimenting/spot rendering, I realized what shadow bias was. I also realized what an idiot Daz was for leaving the default to 1.00, as that's about an inch (estimate) before shadows begin.
I also learned that if you render using deep shadow maps (major yuck), then setting shadow bias low produces strange lines throughout your renders. I totally disregard the use of deep shadow maps anyways, but just so you know.
Hope this bit of info helps, buddy, and thanks for your tuts, they're helping a lot of people!

I've tried doing the whole shadow bias thing with a few stocking items I have (i've got a few differnt pairs...that sounds so wrong) and alot of the time it can help, but alot of the time it can depend on how well the item fits the character. I personaly prefer doing it with Occ and Raytracing off because the problem is 100% gone then and in no way detractes from the render because the OCC isn't needed and her legs cast shadows. Obviously you would need raytracing on of you are doing a reflected shot though. Turning them both off also boost your render time a little which is a plus.
As for shadow maps, I tried them once when I was on my old mac. Raytraced were adding lots of time to my renders and I thought 'I'll try DSM's. They can't be that bad' Needless to say I never used them again and instead opted for the longer render time(it added hours to that little old biscuit tin of a machine) in favour of better looking renders. Major yuck as you said

OMG it's an early Christmas this week. So very frakking glad you are back Toadz Just shakes her head and rolls her eyes at the latex but perks up at the idea of wood. Some of my sets, I try to use, suck the big one. So wood could be very helpful.

No worries hun, glad to be back! Make sure you check the groups freebie section for a few textures that people have submitted. Some of them are really good and perfect for the effects used here. I'll see if I can squeeze a few different styles of wood in...and latex

There are more free textures than you could possible use in a million years...
And thanks, Toadz!
