"It's Showtime once again!"

Remember Showtime, that one Elizabethan Actor character who had a giant, blue digital clock for a head? If you follow my work, chances are that you do. "Ladies and Gentlemen, it's Showtime!" is possibly my second most viewed piece that I've uploaded to DeviantArt, and I'm not entirely sure why. I guess that uploading it on the day of Daylight Savings Time got it more traffic because more people were looking for art pieces pertaining to time... no, that doesn't make any sense.

That aside, I've been wanting to revisit that design for quite some time now. The original drawing is not my proudest work and I've wanted to refine the design to improve it. This motivation partially comes from a drawing of the character that was done by ASmallOne which I feel represents the design better than my drawing of it.* I of course referenced it for the most part when drawing this as opposed to my own work.

I'm rather pleased with this. It didn't come out quite as good as I wanted it too, but it serves as a fine representation of what I was going for. The inking is fine in some parts and not very nice looking in others, the face was initially going to be more interesting, but ended up having to be scrapped, and the whole thing overall is passable but could be better. That being said, I did decide to put some shadows on this one, which I feel help the piece's overall look.
