Description Sugar water tears track their way down buttered cheeks,
Appealing peppermint lips pucker
Heart skips and from full lips trickle tantalizing taffy tales.
Heavy, honeyed words drizzle down my parched throat
Crystal sugar eyes, such tantalizing lies-
I bite my powdered sugar frosted tongue.
The silky sweet siren draws me again to her breast
And my chest flies to unknown sugar highs.
She coats my heart in soft toffee streams
It slips from my hands…
Into hers.
Her lollipop luster from the truth blinds me,
She binds me into her cotton candy trap
With spiraling syrupy strands.
Chocolate words buzz round’ my battered brain, soothing stinging pain
And dousing my dubious doubts…
For a time.
But peanut brittle patches crack at the seams and in slips dreams of scenes,
Better left unseen.
You’re quick, but memory is quicker
And the plot grows thicker as I rub sugar rhinestones from my eyes
She tries to kiss the worries from my lips
Sweet
Sweet
Sweet
Sour
And suddenly I see when I reached out for a tantalizing apple tart tree a licorice snake bit me
And with some surprise I stare into slitted eyes and I know I must suck the liquid lemon drops from my veins.
I recoil, over boil
Cough up words packed down deep beneath glaze dripping confections.
You offer up cookie condolences, but they’re not but mist, tricks
And I wish for toothpicks to pry your rotting words from the cavities in my soul.
Her chewing gum embrace sticks fast to me,
I pull away from this sickly sweet catastrophe.
No sinister sweets will serve solace for sins long passed…
And not so long passed.
I’m sick of evading twists,
I wipe the last bitter taste of you from my mouth,
And spit.
