I'm a Republican, but I have to say, I laughed so hard at this. Because it is true. Ah well.

I don't quite get this, could you please explain it to me?

TomWilcox In reply to multinomadman [2011-03-10 00:02:56 +0000 UTC]
Sure. The Republican Health care bill would have covered only about 4 million of the 44 million uninsured (hardly a safety net). Eight out of ten of these are workers or their dependents. The Democrat's bill covers almost all of the 44 million uninsured. Hardly a big deal unless you are one of the 44 million. The Republican "solution" . . . a "bandaid".
Hope that clarifies it for you.

Well, with the New GOP Congress, we can kiss our tax-paid healthcare goodbye.
Fuck the Democrats for not being agressive enough. Fuck the Republicans for feaing "new" ideas. Fuck Obama for not fighting for his party's views. And, most importantly, fuck our lives, man.

Such a potty mouth. Hard to take you seriously. I would never have recognized you as a Republican. You're so, you're so typical angry Republican.

OK. Sorry about that. My apology! Really.
The Republicans say, "Do you really want the government involved in your health care!" YES!!! I'm 66. For the first time in the last 20 years I have great health insurance I can afford, Medicare. Excellently run! NO pre-existing conditions waiver, can go to ANY doctor or specialist without a referral, forcing lower rates, I can go anywhere anytime for a second opinion, and much more. And I don't need to give my right arm to pay for it.

Haven't people realized that government is inefficient, stupid and sometimes evil. Since when did you get any government project finish under budget. It one department screws up, it is just given more money and is allowed to screw up again and again and again. This is unlike when a private company screws up, it usually fails. Would it not be better it we left nature to do its way of separating the wheat(good businesses that cater to consumer needs) from the chaff(the companies that steal all of your money and generally piss you off while increasing prices). Now government will not fail but continue in its stupidity, taxing the hard working citizen's savings, income, property, food and toothpaste. So when the idiots in government screw up, I loose and they gain.
Now we have an inefficient government that wants to get bigger. Control more about our life stealing more of my money to put in their pockets. Christ, this is slave labour, if I don't want to give my money to some corrupt polititian, I am screwed up the other end and sent to jail(if only I had time to talk about jails). What can I possible do, my voice isn't heard.
Now you might be wondering where I am going with all of this. The answer is it we have a large centralized government that forces health care on the people, not only will we get treatment like that is given in Canada and Great Britain(trust me, the service is horrible in both countries, I have had the misfortune to live in both) but the taxes will rise, good producing companies will shut down because of overtaxing and loose its net income from the broke consumers which would raise the relative wage to product ratio, and it is just easier for private companies to supply health care and leave big government out of it altogether.

I've been following all the issues closely in Congress, but especially the health care debate.
I've watched the Repugs use one tactic..obstruct.
This is a great poster and not minimalistic at all, as a matter of fact it's simplicity mirrors the republicans idea of health care.

Thank goodness they got it done.
So much more on the table to get done and I
do hope that they now realize that if something
is to get done they can't worry about bi-partisanship.

Actually I don't get what you want to express with this. Is this a pro or con to/against that republican health care plan? And "BECAUSE WE CARE ABOUT AMERICA" does not making it clearer for me... I'm german and
- not into the details of american health care
- don't know details about the changes planned
- merely just know that there were certain changes planned
- because it's not my native language, I may miss something that is clear to every american.
That said - the band-aid(?) is recognizable, but it looks a bit stylized to me, like a piece of brass tin on a piece of lacquered wood.

It is political satire and is critical of the Republican Party's plan for being obstructionists of the current proposed Democratic Plan that covers many times as many uninsured compared to their own plan. They choose to exclude a huge number of Americans without insurance from their plan, therefore "BECAUSE WE CARE ABOUT AMERICA" is sarcasm.

Why waste money on such a tiny baby band-aid? Why do we have to waste money for useless things that only enrich the politicals and not us? Why should we support these crazy ideas for healthcare? Another screw up, what else can happen?

Can't say I agree with you Tom, but I do have to say that I value your opinion. It's our differences and our ideas that when put together in a glorious combination can create something great.
Too many politicians forget that these days, and just say "You're wrong and I'm right!"
Honestly, they should just make it mandatory to have health insurance, just like car insurance. You should also be able to buy it from wherever you want, such as across state lines.

witty I like its minimalist approach to its concept...
It is unbelievably amusing to watch Republicans go all crazy and show "socialists-are-coming" paranoia over the idea of public healthcare, which is practised almost everywhere else in the world, including all of the Europe and Canada. For people like me who have never lived in a country where there wasn't public healthcare option, it is incredibly stupid...
