Description
This Factory is by the Searchmount Ski Hill & Resorti always wanted to see it. It is painted on the wall of a local grocery store, and i never knew how to get there, or what it was called. Then went i went skiing, i seen it from the top of the hill, and took a pic!
Im pretty sure it is not used anymore.. i'd like to figure out how to get there, if anyone knows?
its very secluded and hidden inbetween the mountains and hills.
****EDIT
okay, i just found out it is called the Weldwood Plant, and it used to be a lumber mill back in the days of when many people lived and worked in the searchmount area. It shut down about 20 years ago.
Does anyone wanna come on an expedition to check out an abandoned factory?
There is another pic of it from 1961 on this website: [link]

That factory is pretty cool. I've been in there a couple times now taking pictures. Lots of good opportunities in there. I'm hoping to go back again a couple times this summer.

The easiest way to get there is to keep driving up the highway until you cross the Goulais River, and then turn onto the first street on your left. It will bring you right to it. There are prominently posted no trespassing signs though, and I've heard of a photographer getting kicked out of there before, so I try to be a bit more subtle about it. I've preferred to park near the mailboxes on the highway and then cross the ridge on the other side when no one is around. It's pretty much right there once you cross the tracks. There's also an old church & cemetery over there too, which is pretty cool. I've only ever been in there by myself, and it's creepy as hell. I think I'd like to get a group of people together to go for a shoot there sometime this spring.
