I should say something; I really should bloody say something! Arthur glanced at Alfred yet again, they had been friends for a long time and Arthur saw the discomfort written on Alfred. Alfred’s cheek was red with a scrape; there was a lack of Alfred’s jacket on his shoulders which irked Arthur.
Alfred was always wearing that damn jacket, the only time he didn’t was when it got too hot but Arthur was positive it wasn’t too hot. The bell rings and Arthur walks with Alfred to the locker room for gym. He can’t help but watch as Alfred pulls up his shirt with both hands very slowly which totally isn’t Alfred at all.
The bruises are not totally obvious but that was because they haven’t had time to get black and swollen. He notices another thing, Alfred’s shoulder blades are jutting out slightly more than usual and the skin is pulled tighter around his torso. Arthur bites his lip; Alfred’s lost weight and lot of it.
“Alfred, are you okay?” he asks already knowing what Alfred was going to say.
“Fine” Al dismisses it like he always does; trying to use a cheery tone but it always ends up sounding fake. Arthur grabs Alfred’s hand to stop him from going back to class after he put on his less sweaty shirt.
“Al, please” Arthur pleaded, Alfred’s gaze turned from trying hard to be blank to pleading.
“I’m okay, Artie, really!” he said grinning widely which Arthur felt like Al was a mirror which would shatter if he pushed any harder. England didn’t even correct him on his name.
Alfred’s hand slipped out of Arthur’s and he walked down the hall leaving Arthur alone in the locker room to worry. He pressed his hands to his aching chest and swallowed the lump in his chest and kept the tears that threatened to spill in.
He missed the big, strong Alfred; the one who gave the best bear hugs and ate hamburgers all the time and teased him. He didn’t want a super skinny Alfred; he wanted a strong and perfectly lean Alfred with his strong chest.
He grabbed his back pack and ran to his last class that day, he’d tell him that after school; he’d tell him everything and maybe then. Maybe then Al would finally go back to the way he was, or at least part of him.
He took his test in his last period and ran to Alfred’s locker to wait when he spotted Al being cornered by his ex, Francis Bonnefoy. “You don’t deserve Arthur, no? Someone as fat and carefree as you would never be his lover” Francis sneered along with Antonio who didn’t look happy and Gilbert looked like he could care less.
Arthur was furious, his cheeks went red and he marched to Francis and kicked him in the side. Catching Francis off guard, he fell “what-” Francis blinked when he saw Arthur and angry he looked.
“He doesn’t deserve me? What am I? A bloody prize? Something to be won?!” Arthur yelled, rage blinding him momentarily.
“If I am some sort of the prize then fine but I think that Alfred deserves me ten times more than you do!” Arthur snapped.
Alfred looked shocked and his cheeks went a cherry red “he’s kind, strong, and whole lot more things than you’ll ever be, you self-righteous jack-arse!” Arthur’s accent had come out so much in those seconds than ever before and he was a little embarrassed by it.
“C-C’mon, Alfred, let’s go” Arthur said catching Alfred’s hand and pulled him along and for once, Alfred didn’t let go, he only squeezed tighter.
“Did you mean that?” Alfred finally asked when they were a little further away from the school.
Arthur turned on his heel to face Alfred and looked angry then slapped Alfred’s cheeks which made Alfred winced in surprise. He kept his hands on Al’s cheeks and looked in Arthur sky blue eyes “every word, would I have yelled that entire bit if I didn’t?” Arthur asked.
“Um… well, you do yell a lot of stuff when you’re mad” Alfred replied smiling a small smile.
Arthur’s cheeks never ceased in their redness “I guess but that was stuff I meant, Alfred, you changed this year and I don’t like it. I mean I suppose it’s good that you’re doing school work more seriously but you don’t smile enough” Arthur told him.
“I don’t like how much weight you’ve lost, either, you were perfect and lean before and I guess what I’m getting at is… um” Arthur blushed as Alfred stared.
“Is… I love you the way you are and it hurts me to see you like this!” he blurted out.
Alfred almost tumbled back as if he had been shocked “Artie…” he trailed.
“It’s okay if you don’t like me like that but at least be yourself and not… whatever you’re trying to do” Arthur added, his tears came out of their own accord and he wiped them furiously.
Alfred smiled brightly, no not just smiled; Alfred grinned widely in what England secretly and would take that secret to his grave; his hero smile.
He looked almost relieved and Alfred started to laugh, at first it was just a chuckle then border line hysterical. Arthur watched in confusion “what? Are my feelings funny to you?” he growled, his tsundere personality coming out a little.
Alfred seemed to stop the giggles and catch his breath then grabbed Arthur arm and caught Arthur lips and it took a couple seconds for Arthur to deepen the kiss and drop his back pack. When they separated, Arthur couldn’t help the stupid smile that wouldn’t seem to leave his face.
“I did all that for you, I thought that if I became more serious and skinnier than maybe you would love me” Alfred told him and Arthur lip quivered and he kissed Al again and again but no amount of snogging could stop a couple tears from falling.
“You’re so stupid, Al, bloody hell!” he laughed then pulled him into a hug, Alfred returned the hug willingly and Arthur still felt the warmth of Al’s chest though a little bonier than before.
He let go finally and grabbed his backpack “c’mon, Alfred, I’m getting you at least three cheese burgers” Arthur told him and grabbed his hand tightly and Alfred agreed wholly.

I personally don't ship USUK, BUT...this was so incredibly cute! I loved how you managed to keep all their personalities correct (minus America, which is understandable) and still twist them to your story. Good job and good luck. ^^
