Description
Here are my first attempts at modeling landscape at the 1:16 scale. All pieces consists of high desity foam, cut to shape, then covered in a paper mache type mixture. Once dry, everything was flat blacked, then drybrushed with burnt sienna, then highlighted with indian red. I glue some sand to give a more textured effect on some of the models. I still haven't found an acceptable color green, or grass for that matter that I am happy with. The tree is my favorite model so far. I took a piece of scrap wood, beveled the edges, drilled a 1" hole in the center and *presto* custom base. The tree was made by using various wood dowel sizes, and wrapping steel wire around them to create a skeleton. The dowels were removed, and hot glue was used to help hold the steel branches in place. The skeleton was then covered in the same paper mache type mixture, and textured to give the effect of a tree trunk. I used modeling grass from AC Moore for the leaves.
