Thanks for the comments... well, I used to frame and tune up my pics... but... I wanted this one to be the exact tone of reality. Since I used an Astia 100 F film (120 format), which is known to render natural colours, it seemed to me that I would be unfaithful to my technique if I touched up the colours...

Hmm, I think I agree that on one hand the picture evokes a very desolate feeling but then it sabotages that feeling by being very warm. I fiddled around with the color on my own just to experiment and there are some interesting looks that can be done but it's definitely just personal preference.
What the real point of this post is that I think you would find this site fascinating: [link] (which seems to be down at the moment, but with the game due for release sometime soon I imagine it won't be for long). There should be a section on there that details the developers trip to Chernobyl, and there are photos of the ghost city of Pripyat and a vehicle graveyard (rows and rows of abandoned vehicles, helicoptors, firetrucks, etc) all irradiated and left to rust. There is also an abandoned city (Pripyat? Kiev?) that actually has a forest growing in the middle of the city, speaking of becoming one with the landscape. With the site down I can't verify my info. You should definitely check it out though!
