Notice: Featured on Equestria Daily....#20. Winning! [link]Update 10/8/11 - The horror of an old MLP pics. D: So I decided since this was one of my first great MLP pics I decided I needed to update it. I added more detail to the legs with what I originally did. Now it's 50-50 in the MLP style instead of 0 where it was at before.
Took out the stupid lines near the mouths on AJ and Applebloom and cleaned it up. Fully whited the quote bubbles as per a critque on this pic.= from a few months ago. Ummm and added more detail to the tears....though they are still hard to see. 
Well....I challenged myself to do this and I did.
I got a comment WAY back in February by a good friend of mine and he said how come you haven't tried a sad pic yet? I never thought of a good one till now but this is what I came up with. I honestly I didn't think it was going be this dark or sad...but it is. I've wondered for a while what's gonna happen if Granny Smith did in fact pass away.....cause you know she's an old pony and it will happen. 
I apologize if this is upsetting for some of you but it was just something I wanted to see if I could do since I've never done a sad pic before.So about the pic....well...it's sad. I tried to make it as emotional as possible but at the same time keep it withing a peaceful setting.
I wanted to redo my forest setting that =Veggie55 and I did on our collab but this time keep it to a more farm feeling with apple trees and a fence. The tricky part of this pic was big macintosh. I'm slowly but surely almost have drawn all the main characters on the show in a pic or two but he was tricky. First attempt at making a true male pony...horse? Yeah whatever. Either way I think I nailed him.I'm gonna keep this description short unlike in past pics. I think this one speaks for itself in many ways. I will say what was weird about doing this was I had a ton of DBZ music going when I sketched it. I...don't know how the combination of sketching this and DBZ music worked but it did. There's a reason why I'm as random as I am and same with my livestreams and I love it.
So yeah enjoy this one...and I apoligize once again at how sad this pic is. Comments?Please don't be an idiot and steal this. I've said it what over 100 times now....so far so good.

At first I understood who I was he or the deceased, I have a problem with the English language, then I reread it and realized it was Granny Smith.
Now on to the scene I liked is sad, but you've managed to capture well the sadness of the apple clan. Although I think that the ideal in this case had been placed the burial place in a high place from which you could see fields of apple, and I imagine that Granny Smith would have liked to see, from wherever you are, the fields apple where she grew up. And where she saw her grandchildren grow, the apple clan has more than 4 members to see the first episode of the series. And an addition had also been one of the apple say that the place where the remains of Granny Smith was his favorite place.
Well I have no more to say, rest in peace mare knew your grandchildren, your legacy continue ....

I honestly clicked on this mostly to see what AppleBloom and AppleJack were saying and...to be honest, it's definitely touching, and seeing what was going on felt kind of like picking the wings off a butterfly (in a good way, since this is what you intended). I'm definitely giving you five stars on the emotional impact of this picture.
I also like how, despite this being a My Little Pony picture, it's not lovey dovey and full of rainbow and butterflies, like a typical piece of fanart. Kudos to you for stepping out of this theme, and doing something, that's not only different, but also makes you feel something.
As for the visuals, I think you nailed Miss Faust's signature style, but there are a few things that need to be fixed; for example, some of the ponies faces look kind of wonky to me, especially AppleBloom's. Big Mac's head looks a little too round too (since it's square in the show), and the background looks kind of dull. I'm also going to kind of nitpick on the speech bubbles; it's kind of odd that they're transparent. I'm not sure why you did this (whether it's intentional or not), but that's kind of odd to me. :/

First ever critique; tell me how I did.
This image is so touching. I saw it and my heart immediately broke. I actually clicked on this image because I was curious on what they were saying. Nonetheless, I like this image a lot, but it's sad. I would hate it if Granny Smith did indeed die, as you stated in the description. To talk about how you drew this, It looks like it came from the show. Even though you stated that this was the first time you've drawn a male pony, Big Macintosh looks very accurate. My only problem is the apples. They look a bit too square, in my opinion. Besides that, this picture is great. Keep doing what you're doing, this is a great picture.

Thanks for the feedback. This was actually the first time I officially released a Male MLP. I practiced Male MLPs before doing this for about a week. It looks like it came from the show cause I can draw the MLP style down to a science at this point!

It'seasy to think these things, but that pic still tugged at my heart. I think MLP in general softens you up emotionally, and that's a mixed blessing. Makes me think, though: if Celestia is a higher being, then she wouldn't consider death as the end of anything. She'd just be so close to divinity that her imagination and memories would be enough to feel as if her friends live on. She'd just be able to continue to marvel at the infinite diversity of her friends and subjects, never really feeling loss, but certainly regret at the pain she had to cause Luna. And maybe sorrow, for being a guardian and guide who can't share her wards' pain.
Some minor details, as others have said, but impressive treatment of the subject matter nonetheless.
