Description This accessory is a football that will actually behave like a real soccer ball if kicked by a Vocaloid.

Download includes the ball and motion data to kick the ball.
Note: You will need a Vocaloid model with foot physics such as Nakao's Miku for this to work.

Demo video: [link]

Corrections and important notice:
1/. The readme.txt says that the ball has no weight. That's not true, it does. The text has since been corrected.
2/. The kick animation runs for 30 frames - set the play back for longer than this (say 100 frames) or you won't see the effect of the kick. Just thought I'll mention this in case this is not obvious to some ...
3/. To kick the ball harder; increase the acceleration of the foot - simple physics applies. ie. Force=Mass+Acceleration - MMD feet already have mass.
4/. Trick shots work, the angle at which the foot (physics) connects with the ball does have a corresponding effect, so for example, to lift the ball, kick at the bottom of the ball and lift up the foot.

Lol with the ball alone on the ground with physics on, just go to grav and use the middle bar and have the ball rise up ^.^

Yep 0 gravity can be amusing ...

By foot physics, do you mean a solid block of physic for the foot?

Yep.

Oh my god! That is so freaking cool! If only we had more accessories like this for MMD! ^_^ How did you make this???

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to TheEndorOutpost212 [2013-04-20 23:08:26 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. Balls are not hard to make, and certainly this particular idea isn't original.

I see. I was experimenting and it works with many other models. 0w0 This would be even more fun if I had a microsoft kinect, then I could actually bounce the ball with models . ^_^ It's hard trying to make the model pick it up without it falling.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to TheEndorOutpost212 [2013-04-22 00:12:50 +0000 UTC]

It's hard to pick up because there's no mechanism to replicate "squishiness" or for that matter, tactile friction. Which is what is needed for a real ball to be picked up.

Waltervd In reply to Trackdancer [2014-02-15 10:46:43 +0000 UTC]

you could pick it up by making 2 phys in the hand that are like Β |_< that for the right hand and _| for the left hand that it would stay within there

Trackdancer In reply to Waltervd [2014-02-21 21:29:54 +0000 UTC]

There are easier ways to do that. Hand physicsΒ are no guarantee that the ball can be picked up in any case.

i love to puzzle with models i recently found out that color sliders and bone sliders work with VMD spectrum motion Grouped sliders doesn'tΒ
(you made a sound stage so i thought you maybe want to know it xD )

I swear, half the fun with MMD has got to be in trying to figure out how things work.

the only thing i want to find out is how to get my modeling inspiration back in the first year i did this it was easy but this year it has been though to actually finish a model

Do smaller project (like a simple accessory) until you can get back into the 'groove' so to speak. That's what I do. Besides, some of the smaller projects - most can be finished in an evening - can be a lot of fun in themselves. Plus you can finish it so it helps give you the "oomph" to finish the more complex projects.

It would be so awesome if this bounced.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to TheLearningArtist [2012-11-24 18:20:10 +0000 UTC]

It will bounce if it hits something with physics (like another Vocaloid or a wall created for the purpose)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheLearningArtist In reply to Trackdancer [2012-11-26 00:22:25 +0000 UTC]

Really? Cool! I should have tried that, since in my experience it didn't bounce off the floor.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to TheLearningArtist [2012-11-26 01:05:37 +0000 UTC]

It also bounces off the floor (unless you have floor physics off), you have to kick it up - it behaves like a real ball.

I can't use any other models except Vocaloid models?
Does it get even more specific on which kind of Vocaloid model I should use?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to NikoNEKO-chan1212 [2012-11-19 12:07:36 +0000 UTC]

Any MMD model with FOOT physics will work - most don't have them; just use any in your collection that does. Nakao's models tend to have them, and I'm pretty sure that TDA Miku has them too. You just have to check.

All of this sounds really complicated...but it sounds like a great distraction so I'll download it!

I built it just to mess with the physics engine, but it's a fun little toy. The MMD physics engine is really very good.

It's a fun half-hour distraction if you're looking for something different to do in MMD. On it's own, the ball has limited utility.
