Empyrean was an ancient Swordsman of Logos, obsessed with obtaining the power of the Author for himself and using it to darken the universe. His motivation and greed was more powerful than his work ethic, and he mistranslated the ritual, trapping himself between our world and the Author. Having already started a cult of Dark Swordsmen, Empyrean was forced to wait for his followers to try his ritual again and release him. Terza and his cohorts opened the door, allowing the Swordsman of the Void to return to Earth.

Kamen Rider Empyrean uses the Necronomicon Wonder Ride Book to access his dark form. This Book is ancient and represents forbidden knowledge, driving any who use it to the extreme edge of sanity. His fighting style is unhinged, taking punches instead of dodging them and negating much of their force. As Swordsman of the Void, Empyrean has the power to absorb and negate elemental energies, rendering them useless. By accessing the full power of his Book, he can transform into a bestial form, unfolding the wings from his shoulders and transforming his lower body into a mass of tentacles.

His weapon, the Igenken Shinku (Outsider Sword Hollow) is the source of his power. Placing the Book in the tray and pulling either trigger opens the Book and activates the henshin. The weapon is capable of cutting through almost anything, even dispersing elemental energies and swallowing them to enhance its power. Pulling both triggers at once manifests a black hole at the mouth of the blade, making it the center of gravity and allowing Empyrean to manipulate objects.

Tapping his Book releases churning ultraviolet energy, coalescing into a pulsing vortex at the center of the blade. Empyrean swings his weapon around his body, creating a construct of orbits and dragging his foes into alignment before releasing his energy, destroying his targets and drawing their atoms into his void.

REFERENCE:
Empyrean's name means relating to space or the cosmos. His Wonder Ride Book, Necronomicon, is based on Cthulhu and the Lovecraftian mythos.
