Description With Foxo's directions, Howel and Howelle take an alternate route through Gloomwood Forests and arrive at the entrance to Twilight Trail. Foxo appears confused, and states that a giant monster is usually guarding the entrance. Fortunately it appears that it isn't the case this time. Despite this, it takes a solid bit of coercion to get Howelle moving again. Foxo reassures her that he is quite familiar to this giant monster, and that he is sure that he can get them past it if they encounter it. Still a little unsure, not to mention with the general spookiness of Twilight Trail, Howelle agrees to move on. With that, the pups enter Twilight Trail.

As they explore the area, they encounter several new enemy types, the first of which is Fetches. Under normal circumstances, Fetches are fairly unremarkable enemies with slightly unusual attacks. However, upon being KO'd they will collapse into a pile of bones which will stick around for a turn before finally exploding like normal KO'd enemies. If another Fetch is KO'd before this happens however, their bones will form together into a new fetch with full HP. Fetches can attack by having a bone dangled behind one of the pups, causing the Fetch to chase after it, requiring the targeted pup to jump over or on the fetch to avoid or counter. The bone will then be moved over the pups in a circular fashion, and the Fetch will chase after it. The pups much jump over the Fetch, but only after the bone has moved over them, otherwise they will jump into it and be hit, likely not recovering in time and being hit by the Fetch as well. If this attack hits, it can trip, and deals an average amount of stress. Fetches can also attack by spitting their bones at one of the pups, requiring the targeted pup to hit it back at the Fetch with a hammer counter, causing it to catch the bone again. If this attack hits, it can deal a small amount of stress.

Anughouls are another new enemy type, which float above the ground, counting them as flying. Anughouls attack by splitting into five copies and surrounding the pups in a thick fog. The copies will then roll at the pups at varying speeds, turning invisible mid-attack and requiring the pups to guess their position so they can hit them away with hammer counters. A copy hit this way will bounce backwards, knocking away any other copies behind it. The fog created in this attack deals a small amount of stress, and this attack can deal an additional small amount more if it hits. Additionally, this attack can deal the 'Poisoned' status effect if it hits.

Skullenos are a new variation of Seleno, which attack in the same manner as a regular Seleno. Their main differences are their improved stats over normal Selenos, as well as their skull helmet, which renders them immune to all damage from above, such as from jumps. Also, both of their attacks can now trip if they hit.

Skelletonne Warriors are a durable form of Skelletonne, equipped with armour and a spear, giving them a variety of abilities. They can use their shield to block all damage from a single attack, although it will break after this occurs, meaning it is useful to break it with a hammer attack. If a pup tries to break it with a jump, or jumps on the Skelletonne Warrior normally, they will be damaged, as both the Skelletonne Warrior and its shield count as spiky. Skelletonne Warriors can attack by charging at one of the pups with their spear, requiring the pups to jump over the spear to avoid the attack. This attack deals a small amount of stress, and deals slightly more if it hits, as well as the 'DEF-Down' status effect. Alternatively, Skelletonne Warriors can throw their spears at one of the pups, requiring the targeted pup to hit it away with a hammer counter. They can either throw the spear directly at the pup, or up into the top screen, where it will fall down on them from above. Both variations deal an average amount of stress if they hit, as well as potentially tripping the hit pup.

As they explore the area, the pups can learn the Jump Helmet attack, a powerful single-target attack where Howel must use the jump helmet to bounce off of Howelle's head. She must move around to make sure she is underneath him when he lands, otherwise he will slam into the ground and the attack will instantly fail. Each successful bounce adds more height, meaning more damage when Howel eventually lands on the targeted enemy, not only dealing high damage to them but also sending out a small shockwave, dealing a slight amount of damage to any other ground-based enemies in the battle. This attack can hit flying enemies, but is countered by spiky enemies, as it counts as a jump.

Eventually, the pups come to a large mansion, which Foxo identifies as the right place. The main door opens with a loud and audible creak, followed by a louder and angry-sounding "AROOOO", which causes Howelle to promptly flee, only to run into a pair of Fetches that had snuck up behind them, trapping them in the doorway. A mysterious voice scolds the source of the aroo and invites the pups inside. They are directed into a large stateroom lit by an equally-large fireplace, where they find a pinkish fox tending to what appears to be a giant elongated skeletal wolf. Upon revealing himself, Foxo refers to the fox as "mistress Leslie", and the pups realise that this is who they have been looking for. Leslie states that the last time she saw the pups, their eyes hadn't even opened yet, and that they have grown well. The pups understandably have no idea what she is talking about. She says that she will explain in due time, but first wants to see how her most prized creations fare in combat. Howel admits that he should have seen this coming by now, and the pups prepare to fight...
