Description
As Misty promptly abandons her plan to take control of Dobinxette, the spell placed upon the food at the table begins to fade away, and Dobinxette wakes up. Quite unusually, she actually remembers what happened, and immediately blames Misty for her falling asleep, as well as the splattered food all over her face. She goes to wipe it off, only to find her hands bound to the chair. Misty announces the initiation of her backup plan, and draws Dobinxette's attention to the rocket boosters on the chair, that were definitely not there before. Misty states there should only be one floor between them and the roof (maybe two), and Dobinxette has a single moment of horror to realise what is about to happen, before the boosters activate, crashing her and the chair through the roof, KO'ing her in the process. The chair flies high into the air and explodes, launching Dobinxette off to who-knows-where...

Some time later, Present Night Guard and Selena wake up in somewhere wet yet bright, and quickly realise that they are on the sea floor. They quickly begin panicking, until Shepa notes that they can somehow breathe. After calming down somewhat, they take a look around, and catch a glimpse of a tail off in the distance. Following the trail, they encounter a Mermaiden, who looks distressed, yet oddly unsurprised that they showed up. Present Night Guard realises that they are in Sunbeam Ocean, outside of Dobinxette's body. Somehow the explosion must have launched them clear.

The Mermaiden explains that she found the three of them drifting on the surface, and after applying a few 'Mermaiden tricks' allowed them to breathe underwater. The effect should last for several days, giving them more than enough time to carry out a little favour for her. She offers to take them to Roguetown Port... If they find her a very specific and very rare pearl to add to her collection. Knowing how particular Mermaidens can be when it comes to jewelry, the duo accept, and follow the Mermaiden's directions into deeper waters to find the pearl.

As they explore the ocean, they encounter several new enemy types, the first being the Aquanu. Since they are fighting underwater, there are certain differences in battle. Fire-based attacks and effects, such as Fire Heart, do not work underwater, and cannot even be selected. Unlike other Anu variants, Aquanuu can swim above the seabed, counting as flying while they do. Aquanuu retain the usual eye laser attack, but their eye lasers are not instantaneous, meaning there is a small delay between them firing and the target having to jump. Alternatively, Aquanuu can swim into one of the duo, requiring them to hit it away with a hammer counter.

Another new enemy type is the Squileno, and underwater Seleno variant that attacks by swimming into its target, requiring them to hit it away with a hammer counter. Sometimes, the Squileno will release a cloud of ink in front of the target, making it more difficult to see when to swing with the hammer. Alternatively, Squilinos can fire spurts of ink at one or both of the duo, requiring the target/s to jump over the ink to avoid it. Being hit by the ink can deal the 'Poisoned' status effect.

A third new enemy type is the Jelly Fish, an unusual enemy in that it is not only immune to jump attacks, but not other attacks from above, but that it also traps a character who attempts to jump on it, requiring them to rapidly struggle to free themselves, otherwise they will gradually take damage, possibly suffering the 'Poisoned' and 'DEF-Down' status effects. If there are multiple Jelly Fish in a battle and one of them is damaged, the damaged Jelly Fish can fuse with another, fully healing it and giving it the 'POW-Up' and 'DEF-Up' status effects. Jelly fish attack by bouncing into their targets, requiring them to hit them away with a hammer counter.

Eventually, the duo find the pearl they are looking for and bring it back to the Mermaiden, who is ecstatic to add such a pretty shiny gem to her collection. However, just as Present Night Guard is about to hand it to her, a crab runs under his feet (debatably on purpose), tripping him up and causing him to drop the pearl. In a slow-motion moment of horror, the pearl falls to the ground and promptly shatters. Present Night Guard is barely able to get to his feet before the Mermaiden explodes into rage, declaring that she fancies having battered human with a sprinkling of ground Valnaxi for dinner, and promptly attacks the quite frankly terrified duo...
