Description
Driven over the edge by Poodelle's offensive remarks, Dobinxette violently attacks...Poodelle herself is a powerful combatant, but doesn't have any particularly outstanding abilities or gimmicks. However, throughout the battle, pairs of Aeronautanuu will arrive in the battle, flying up in the top screen, out of range of Dobinxette's attacks. If she lets them remain in the battle, they will fly off and drop a bomb on her for unavoidable damage, possibly dealing her the 'Dizzy' status effect. However, she can prevent this by inhaling them and allowing the duo to battle them. Poodelle herself gains a second attack turn later in the battle, and has several attacks.
Her first attack is to bring out a large trampoline, which she will position behind her. She will then curl into a floofy ball and begin bouncing around, before bouncing into the trampoline and launching herself at Dobinxette. She can either launch directly at her, requiring her to punch her away, or launch herself upwards and down on Dobinxette, requiring her to hit her away with an uppercut punch. Both variations can deal the 'Dizzy' status effect if they hit.
Her second attack is a slight variation on the first, in that she will bounce straight into the trampoline and up into the air, before crashing down on Dobinxette, requiring her to hit Poodelle away with an uppercut punch. This launches her back at the trampoline, causing her to bounce back at Dobinxette, initiating a back-and-forth. With each bounce, Poodelle will get lower and faster, until she bounces directly at Dobinxette, requiring her to punch her away. This attack can trip if it hits.
Her third attack is to bring out a series of items from her floof and begin throwing them at Dobinxette, requiring her to react based on what the items are. Hammers will bounce directly at her, requiring her to punch them away. Spiked balls will bounce over her, requiring her to duck under them. Bouncy balls will bounce up and onto her, requiring her to punch them away with an uppercut punch. Occasionally she will bring out an Aeronautanu, which will fly at her, requiring her to quickly duck under it. Being hit by a hammer or bouncy ball can deal the 'Dizzy' status effect, while being hit by a spiked ball or an Aeronautanu can trip Dobinxette. Later in the battle, Poodelle will throw out more items and will do so faster.
Her fourth attack is to repeatedly charge at Dobinxette, requiring her to punch her back each time. With each charge, she will get closer and faster, until she stands on her hind legs and charges, requiring Dobinxette to hit her back with an uppercut punch, otherwise she will grab Dobinxette and hurl her into the air, dealing heavy damage and possibly inflicting the 'Dizzy' status effect upon landing.
The Aeronautanu fight as a pair when battling the duo, and attack by flying at them in various patterns, requiring them to hit them away with hammer counters. Depending on their formation, the duo must either swing at the same time, or one after the other. If this attack hits, it can trip. Alternatively, they can fly at various elevations in front of each of the duo before firing their eye lasers. If they fly level with their target, they must jump. If they fly above their target, they must not jump. The Aeronautanu will repeat this several times in a single attack. These lasers can deal the 'SPD-Down' status effect.
Once Poodelle is defeated, she admits her surprise at being beaten by such an oafish brute, but still doesn't believe that she is Sphinxette. Dobinxette tells her to get out before she finishes the job, and having dealt with Poodelle, she enters her temple. She heads down to the lower levels, arriving in the prison cell area. She thinks she sees something strange in one of the cells, before she is somehow pushed in and locked in the cell. She just about manages to identify the strange blue figure as her attacker before he uses a magic spell to KO her. Getting no response from her, Shepa and the duo decide to leave her body for the time being and see what is happening outside...
Welp, onto the Poodelle battle. Not much different here. One of her attacks has been given a second variety, as I found the original Poodelle battle was lacking in attack variety for a battle at this stage of the game. However, the big standout feature of this battle is the first real escalation of stats in terms of Dobinxette bosses. 350+ POW is nothing to sneeze at at this point, especially with two attack turns later on.
