Description With Python blocking their way, the duo are forced to battle her in order to get to Misty.

Compared to her previous battle, Python is significantly more powerful, and although she shares much of the same set of attacks, they work differently as she battles the duo instead of Dobinxette. Later in the battle, Python gains a second attack turn. Python has several attacks.

Her first attack is to try and grab one of the duo with her tongue, requiring the target to jump over the tongue to avoid it, or on it to counter, so long as they do not touch the tip. If they are caught, Python will reel them in and eat them, leeching HP and possibly dealing the 'Poisoned' and 'STAT-Down' status effects at random, before moving in line with the other character and spitting them out at them. She can either spit them normally, requiring the target to jump over them, or she can aim upwards before spitting, requiring them to not jump. If the jumping character is hit, they can trip. Alternatively, Python will miss the tongue grab altogether, requiring the target to not jump, and instead hit her away with a hammer counter, as retracting her tongue will fling her at the missed character. This can deal the 'Dizzy' status effect if it hits.

Her second attack is to climb up the right side of the screen before leaping at one of the duo. She will look at her target before attacking, and they must hit her away with a hammer counter. Occasionally, she will lose her grip before leaping, meaning she will instead land in front of the targeted character, requiring them to jump over the resulting shockwave, before the other character must jump as well in quick succession. If she lands on a character, they can suffer the 'Dizzy' status effect, and if a character is hit by a shockwave, they can trip.

Her third attack is to grab the top of the bottom screen with her tail and begin swinging at the duo, requiring the target to hit her back with a hammer counter. Each time she is hit, she will swing further back and gain more momentum, causing her to swing faster each time as well. Eventually, she will have enough momentum to swing around in a loop and attack one of the duo from behind, requiring them to hit her away with another hammer counter. If this attack hits, it can trip. Notably, being hit does not end the attack, as Python will simply keep swinging. The faster she is going, the more damage a hit will do, making it more dangerous as it gets countered more.

Her fourth attack is to bring out a large beam sniper rifle and aim it at one of the duo, causing a recticle to appear over them and the screen around them to go dark. As the beam charges up, Python will track that character before firing an instantaneous laser that cannot be dodged once fired. However, she will 'lock' her aim in place just before firing, and after this the recticle will not track the target, allowing them to lock it in one place, then avoid the beam after. For example, if they jump just as she locks her aim, the recticle will stay in the air, allowing them to simply not jump, or vice versa. If the beam hits, it will deal the 'DEF-Down' status effect as well as heavy damage.

Once Python is defeated, the duo will be able to enter Chilltop Palace and continue pursuing Misty.

Round 2, fight! Python's back, and this time she fights the duo, which is basically the whole gimmick of the fight. She uses the same attacks as before, only that they work quite differently when battling the duo. In terms of changes, not much. A few slight changes, mostly with status effects, but two significant changes are that the old 'hypnotizing' attack is gone, and Python now gains the customary boss-gets-hurt-second-attack-turn(tm) later in the battle.

Also, with the new side-quests that give the duo their optional special attacks, this is now the first boss where the duo can have all of their special attacks available. Yay! ^^
