Description With Shepa (and Anu) devoured by the Giant Chestnutter, the duo decide to remove it forcefully.

Unlike the Super Sphinxy Statue, the Giant Chestnutter battle takes place entirely inside Dobinxette, meaning only the duo fight it. Although the Giant Chestnutter is mounted on top of part of Dobinxette's flame pipe, it is still considered a ground-based enemy. However, it has an array of spikes, which allow it to counter attacks from above (but only if they involve a character actually touching the spikes), such as jumps. They also protect it from fire-based attacks, rendering their damage almost null. However, the spikes can be removed by a certain attack, rendering the Giant Chestnutter temporarily vulnerable, since it is weak to fire and takes additional damage. The Giant Chestnutter has several attacks.

Its first attack is to spit poison bubbles at the duo, requiring the target to destroy the bubbles with a hammer counter. It will launch several bubbles in turn, and these bubbles can deal the 'Poisoned' status effect if they hit.

Its second attack is to launch its three large spikes at the duo, launching them in an upwards arc and down onto the duo, requiring them to hit them back at the Giant Chestnutter with hammer counters. Its target will be telegraphed based on its trajectory as it reaches the top of the arc. This attack does not deplete the spikes however, as they will simply be replaced after the attack has finished.

Its third attack is for the flame pipe beneath it to begin convulsing, before a massive blast of flame launches the Giant Chestnutter into the air, before it crashes down in front of the duo, sending out a shockwave that they must both jump over. If it lands between them, they must both jump at the same time, as the shockwave reaches them both at the same time. But if it lands in front of one of the duo, that character must jump first, as the shockwave reaches them before the other character. If the shockwave hits, it can trip.

Its fourth attack is for it to regurgitate either Shepa or Anu, before spitting them at one of the duo, launching them high into the air and down onto one of them, requiring them to hit them back at the Giant Chestnutter with a hammer counter. Shepa will always be spat at Present Night Guard, and Anu at Selena. If they counter successfully, they will knock the spat character into the Giant Chestnutter's large spikes, knocking them off and rendering it vulnerable to jump and fire attacks for several turns. If the spikes have already been removed, the impacts will simply deal chip damage instead. After the attack, regardless of whether or not the hammer counter hit, the spat character will appear in front of the Giant Chestnutter and get angry at it, only for it to eat them again.

Once the Giant Chestnutter is defeated, Shepa and Anu will be freed, and the flame pipe will seal up, allowing Dobinxette to breathe fire once more. Using this, she overheats the barrier, allowing her to leave Skull Gorge, but not before admitting that she could make use out of the duo yet...

Giant Chestnutter has been DX'd. This is the first boss with some pretty significant differences. Gone is the whole deal with Dobinxette's mouth in the background, and the premise is a little different. Instead of Shepa getting angry at it, she gets angry at it from the inside, along with Anu. Additionally, instead of the spike rain attack depleting its spikes, a new attack involves Shepa or Anu being used to knock the spikes off.

Beating up helpless navis is so satisfying.
