Following the standout success of Automat Industries' latest product, Automat-001 'Lucy', the company decided to ride the wave of financial gains and build a second model, taking into account the demands of the newly-opened market for definitely-not-killer robots. While Lucy was certainly quite the spectacle at indoor gatherings, outdoor events were... Not... So successful, as one particular party discovered when unexpected rain shorted out several of Lucy's systems, prompting her to collapse during a performance, and causing the party organisers to lose a frightening amount of money to disgruntled refund-demanding party-goers.

Despite the hefty repair costs and tarnished reputations, Automat Industries' design teams gained some inspiration from the event, and set about designing an Automat far more suited for outdoor use, and the result was Automat-002, designated 'Cassie'. Based on the well-known, and perhaps infamous, Bandannawolves that rule Roguetown and the surrounding regions, Cassie was not only designed for use in any conditions, but she is also far more physically durable and capable, and is marketed for the 'adventurous customer'. Sporting events, outdoor parties, and hunting for escaped enemies are all well within her remit.

Alongside her reinforced physical frame, Cassie has a number of additional improvements over Lucy. Her olfactory sensors are incredibly sensitive, capable of singling out individual scents over several miles before homing in on them. Her electronics are reinforced against not just the environment, but also physical damage. Were Cassie's improved navigation programming to fail and she were to fall over, she would be far less likely to suffer critical damage. Her eyes are also capable of using thermal and night vision modes, allowing her to track targets in the dark, and even through walls at close range. However, this array of improved features comes at the cost of significantly-increased power usage, and Cassie's rental package includes a portable recharge station, suitable for use over a 72-hour period before requiring maintenance.
