Description
Howel wakes up to find himself in some sort of shaded alcove in Gloomwood Forests, with no memory of how he got there. He only finds himself more confused when he stands up on only two legs, and when he finds that he now has arms. It takes a moment for him to adjust to only having two legs, but he quickly gets the hang of it and leaves the alcove, finding himself somewhere in Deep Gloomwood Forests. After a brief bit of exploring, he finds himself on familiar terrain, and follows the path back to the Bandanawolf den...However, instead of the pack he finds a smoking and blasted-out ruin, with unconscious Bandanawolves everywhere. He searches around and soon finds his mother Wolfie, also unconscious on the ground, having apparently been struck by some kind of strange energy projectile. However, he finds no trace of his sister Howelle. As he searches the den further, he encounters none other than Sally, who has taken advantage of the chaos to sneak into the den, and wonders aloud where the pups are, as she has seen no trace of them in the chaos. Noticing that she is alone, Howel takes the opportunity to jump and land behind her, planning to strike a pose but only falling flat on his face and alerting Sally to his presence. Addressing him as the usual "little squirt", she explains that she was wondering where he was, although she wasn't expecting him to be on two legs. Howel apologises for disappointing her, and much to her surprise and amusement challenges her to a battle, his confidence boosted by his apparent increase in capability.
As the first battle of the game, Sally has no real gimmicks or tricks. However, Howel is not only unable to see her stats, but also his own. This extends to damage dealt to and taken by either of them, which Howel points out as weird. Sally has two attacks.
Her first attack is to walk up to Howel and try and bite him, requiring him to jump over her as she attacks. If he times his jump right, he can land on Sally's head to counter, damaging her instead. This attack inflicts a considerable amount of stress, dealing extra stress if it hits.
Her second attack is to try and swipe Howel with her tail, requiring him to jump over the tail as it passes. Unlike her bite attack, this attack cannot be countered, and trying to land on the tail will only result in Howel getting hit. This attack inflicts a small amount of stress, dealing considerably more if it hits.
Regardless of how well he fights, the battle will result in Howel getting KO'd in one way or another. Either he is simply KO'd by taking too much damage as usual, or he suffers the 'Panicked' status effect, rendering him unable to act on his turn, as well as defend during Sally's turns, allowing her to attack him with impunity until she depletes his HP and he is KO'd. Sally declares that she has finally got what she wanted, Wolfie's precious little pup, right were she wants him, only for a strange energy blast to slam into Sally and KO her before Howel loses consciousness...
Welp, the starts of a new adventu- WOAH we're right into it this time. No peaceful introductions this time around. Howel wakes up, finds himself in a humanoid form, and goes and fights Sally. As per usual for first bosses he wins without much hassle...
...
Wait he loses?! Yep, Howel loses his first fight. How embarassing. And how mysterious. Stress? Not being able to see numbers? What's going on? Guess we'll find out...
