Taking a short break from the Animorphs work, so that I could do a piece for my mom for her birthday. She likes home-made gifts.Her birthday is the 4th, so any critiques/suggestions before then would be good, as I'd rather make any changes before then than after.
That's my mom, riding the horse, by the way. She likes horses and wishes she lived on a farm, so I drew her riding a horse on a farm.
The building in the background is supposed to be a barn, but I haven't seen very many barns, so I kind of had to wing it.The cat on the fence is our cat, Nip.
And about the rooster that's running along behind the horse; when my mom was a kid, she lived on a farm, and there was a rooster that would chase her around all the time. So I included that there as a little joke.

This looks AWESOME so far. I love the little kitty on the fence and the rooster.
The main things I think need a little work are the horse and your mom's chinline. You might look at a tutorial on drawing horses to get the horse's legs and haunches right. And your mom's chin may need a little more shading to give it definition.
Oh, and the barn looks good; I'd just make the doors a little taller. Bear in mind that the horse has to get in there without ducking his/her head.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions! I implemented them and I uploaded a new version, and I think it looks better on all counts.
Hehe, I tried to draw a horse with no references. Not generally a good idea. Looking at real horses, it didn't take me long to figure out that I got the upper parts of the legs too skinny. Whoops. Anyway, thanks for calling that to my attention!

Haha, that's funny. Funny, because it's exactly what I would have thought if I hadn't been the one to draw this.
And hey, you know . . . the rooster could be Marco, chasing the girls around. The cat would be Jake, rolling his eyes as he watches the scene. Which would make those two chickens in the background . . . Ax and Tobias? Lol, Ax has gotta be the one pecking at the ground, while Tobias tells him he shouldn't eat that.

Nope. I didn't notice that until you said that. I just have a very active imagination when it comes to Animorphs.
