Yes, that's us wearing full on winter clothes IN our apartment.So, this was basically today. It was about -4 Celsius outside, and about 1 Celsius inside. That's about 30 F. And that, for INSIDE, is COLD. AND it was snowing outside. Which is all nice and pretty, but we're right near the ocean. It SHOULDN'T be snowing. So yeah, little creepy. And also. COLD.
So, we came home today from shopping. And I just left my scarf on. And as the night went on, my husband kept putting on more clothing. In the end we ended up almost in full winter gear...in our own apartment. So, I guess this comic is a bit more sad than funny. but yes.

(We had to do laundry today, and by the time I brought it in, it was covered in snow and frozen. Which made shaking the snow off hard T__T ) Also, art-wise, this took twice as long to draw. I guess I can do backgrounds when I really put my mind to it

I thought that was what a kotatsu was for. A place to warm up? I'm not too familiar with the culture, forgive me if I'm wrong.

A kotatsu is just a heated table, so it's only warm under the table, the rest of the apartment is freezing ^_^

in Japan you only really have an air conditioner which functions as both a heater and an AC. It's expensive to run, so we mostly just bundle up. And the apartment isn't insulated, so it can get pretty nippy at night.

Oh, I see... I haven't seen my new housing yet, but I hope I don't have to pay for the air conditioner, since electricity is included... but sometimes you get the surprise, and the air conditioner works with 100 yens coins...

Heh, I've only stayed in this one apartment, and electricity is expeeensive in the winter >_< I recommended an electric blanket. They're awesome!

Aren't electric blankets dangerous? That's what I've heard from my parents, so maybe that thought is obsolete.

Not really, Japan thrives on personal heating devices, so they make everything pretty safe. Just don't like, turn it on full blast directly on you. Have a blanket in between ^_^

It is indeed terrible, but it made an excellent comic?
I do that at home, but the lowest it ever gets is in the 20's Fahrenheit, and that's an extreme. Usually it's a low of 35 or so, but it never seems much warmer inside the house, so... I do use less pillows in the winter.

I am sorry that must be terrible, I don't mean to brag but its usually always pretty sunny in CA : ) But you get to see snow at least though I have never seen it. But while it is funny it is sad too D: I am sorry it is not warmer, do you guys have a space heater?

heheh, no, I know CA weather and I miss it. Though, my house in aptos is pretty close to the ocean, so it's foggy a lot in the winter there, and here it's mostly sunny in the winter.
We have an itty bitty space heater, and then little personal warming devices

Is it common for it to get that cold where you are? Is heated apartments just not a regular thing? I live in Canada, and the idea of any living space not being heated is just absurd! (then again, it does get colder here more often

They don't insulate houses and apartments here because gas is used commonly in the stove and for heating implements, so they have to have a way for the air to get outside. This leads to cold houses. It's not supposed to snow, but it got this cold last winter and it suuuuuuuuucked T_T

I have thick socks, but I can't wear wool T_T so usually, it means two pairs of socks, when at home ^_^;;;

Well, with two layers of socks, if you've got wood or laminate floors, you can at least have your own indoor skating rink.
