Description
Tommy Richardsen // Facebook // 500px Β // InstagramMist and fog really added a nice atmosphere to this place, with the river having just enough water to hit the rock and change direction it allowed for a really nice composition.
Image captured in Nordreisa, Northern Norway.
D810, 30mm.

Overall
Vision
Originality
Technique
Impact
"Vision" gets five stars, because, first, it is not just a waterscape; it adds several dimensions to the scene. This is an ethereal, haunting, slightly sinister view of one of Earth's boreal regions. Second, when I saw it, my first thought was "A perfect illustration for Edgar Allan Poe's "Descent Into the Maelstrom", and if your vision sparks a vision in someone else's mind, then it does what art should do.
"Originality": just half a star off because haze and flowing water have been done before, but four and a half stars because you have combined both to much more original effect than most other photographers, by a large margin.
Technique: These effects to be so wondrously combined and so flawlessly took more than five-star technique!
Impact: I started writing this critique instantly upon seeing this fot the first time! My immediate response was "Ooooh! How superlatively beautiful! My next response was "A perfect bookcover for Poe's "Descent".

Beautiful work as always! This has a very similar feeling to your usual work in it's unreal quiet nature but it differs in a very sinister way. Ethereal too.

Thank you very much.
You are quite right, when I was looking through my images from this evening this felt "off" compared to my normal type of images, but in a good way, so I finished it.

It was interesting shooting this, held my tripod by one leg while inching it closer and closer to the water and edge of the rock I was on.

That is why I was pushing the tripod forward and not moving myself.

Hehehehehe, awesome.
It generally sounds like I am trying to do that "villain laugh" when I stumble upon a good composition, I just really enjoy those moments and relish that in the fact that I have got a good shot.
