My fab idiot has a temporary reference! But we all know how it is with "temporary" things... =w= If this gets over 100 faves I'll start to work on his actual ref right away hahahaha I wish.

I also learned today that even GIMP is programmed by morons. WHY THE HELL CAN'T ANY PROGRAM RUN PROPERLY IN MY LAPTOP??? I drew it all with SAI, added bg+texts with GIMP and of course the thing crashed after I merged the layers There I went again... at least this time I didn't lose all the work.

Okedoke, back to ze business. Even with temp ref comes A LOT of text. Wrote half of it on a bus and took to Word for checking typos. Enjoy!

Body type: Whatever he wants to be but casual look is slender male with good tonicity. When he's out on a mission/ filling his duties then obviously lil' more buff helps along the way.

Several notes: His pupils shrink or enlarge according to his mood (and flow of energy in his body), plus eyes glow brighter when he's experiencing strong emotion or uses powers.

Bio/Description

*heavy sigh* I could literally write greater wall of text than The Great Wall of China is but I'll leave the "species" part really short so if you have any questions about those then poke me, I'll just note down the quick basics that apply to our TT as well.

Takers can't smell, taste or feel pain. They also don't bleed nor need to eat or sleep. Their bodies aren't alive, physical forms are only needed to blend in to the surrounding environment and complete tasks. That means there's no metabolism (instead of guts they use their hollow chests and abdomens to store smaller items and energy crystals), no need to breathe, no need to use bathroom etc. Consider them as superior ghosts with some privileges. The difference is that they have no souls.

They are all connected by Death and they call this "the common sense". Does Death even exist physically or does it "live" only through takers? We, mortals, will never know. They start to need all those functions when they find their Key and stay with them. Usually every taker has their own unique Key but there can be situations when one person has several takers staying with them.

Now to le infamous fab butthead:

TT didn't born like living creatures do, he was created by Death hell-knows-how-many-millions-years ago. His actual look is just a haze of black mist. That's how he spent the first decades of his existence because at first he had no energy to form a physical body. Like every other Death angel his task was to collect dead creatures' souls and deliver the remains to Death. In this process they all snatch some energy from the soul to themselves till they have enough to take physical form (and they've figure out how to do it or elder Taker helps them to do that). Our Taker here figured it out through time himself. His first forms were fragile and unstable (like they all first are). Soon he found the crystals to start saving energy to and after that "life" went on easier. There was a lot of work to do since there weren't enough Takers back then, thus he had plenty of chances to collect more energy to his crystals and become more powerful. He can't remember his early days of existence because he learned to save memories to his crystals around 3 million years ago and first ones are slowly starting to fade (more under abilities). Plus he has made himself to forget really negative ones.

In time (yes I use the word "time" a lot here) he changed forms according to current fauna. He also got along with other takers and learned with them. Then humans started to evolve (yes I support evolution theory don't tell me otherwise) and in time first Keys started to appear. The circle had begun and so even takers started to "recycle". Our Taker also was curious to find his Key but luck didn't seem to be on his side till the 19th century.

It was a hot summer day in the Wild West when our Taker was assigned to go after local old priest. After doing his ritual he noticed one almost teenage girl staring at him on the other side of the priest's bed. He kept an eye on her till one day he found a moment to approach her near her home and confirm the fact that he can see him. The girl was rather shy and due to being in hella religious family she thought of him as a demon.

Taker found new tactics: he generated himself into a boy of her age and approached as a playmate. For his fortune the girl was able to touch him and Taker could keep his cover. (God this sounds like a really bad soap opera or just a rapist hunting for little girls omg please don't think like that ;; ) In several weeks they become good friends and the girl introduced him to her family. That's when things started to go downhill: her father's hand went right through him when he tried to pat his shoulder. So busted... poor Taker was banished and no matter what he did or generated himself into the family had become paranoid enough to bust him every time. Still the girl didn't find him threathening and secretly met him outside home. In couple months they had a strong friendship, Taker was happy to have someone around. They were having another "Good bye and see you tomorrow" hug when girl's dad stepped around the corner. Basically hell broke loose. The girl tried to stop her father from hurting TT but since he couldn't touch him anyway he channeled his fury towards his own daughter. The girl started to run away from him, blinded by pure fear and so she didn't notice the approaching train... lame and as tragic as that but Taker had lost his first Key. He fell into deep depression and mourned her for years before he decided to get rid of these memories. All he can remember is that he used to have a Key and that he lost her but how and why is gone. Then how the hell do I know that? One other taker told me who happened to witness her death (because they were assigned to collect her soul and takers know perfectly when and where to be) and Taker also told them everything before erasing his own memory. That's just how it works with Death Angels.

*ahem* So, TT continued his "job" but he wasn't as enthusiastic as before. I addmit shit gets weird now but I've decided that his new Key is... me. Or, you know, the Tri from SoD comic. I haven't found another way to solve this but this is how he's my mascot and I'll stick to this option for now. What will happen to him and what the future brings isn't important yet, he's the goofy dorkus as we know him and that should be enough for now :3

Personality

I bet many know him by his childish, playful attitude and that with friendliness comes some teasing. Still water, deep bottom I'd say here. Wait, is there even such expression in English? O__o Okay never mind, let's just say he actually isn't what he seems like. He's actually really intelligent (feken genius, he has had too much free time), both knowledge and experience wise. TT actually likes to build gadgets, do experiments, solve problems and dig deep into the secrets of life. Oh, and he's actually able to write his own genetic code that would work HOW COOL IS THAT???

Aside his knowledge he has also many skills, all thanks to long time again, of course. When something needs to be done then he'll do it, unless it brings harm to someone (except against his enemies). Generally TT is just a calm butt that minds his own business. He can never say no to pleasant company or physical contact. Hug monster that is. But he's not very comfortable around his own kind, which results him to prefer the company of living over the dead. He will be around when he's needed, even when he doesn't get along with someone at all (lookin' at you, Kei XD) aka he won't betray anyone. Even those he tends to tease a lot haven't earned his hatred. Defends all he holds dear with all it costs so don't wonder why I sometimes call him the Guardian Angel.

So, he has several habits as well: from time to time he regenerates himself feathered wings. These are pretty useless, honestly, but my guess is that is just his way to defend the title Death Angel. Or he has some symbolic connections to them. Whatever the case, I still get a nosebleed when drawing him with them because he can't wear a shirt with wings XD In some cases he uses apron-like clothing but has nothing against being topless. Second habit is to arrange hug-attacks. Idk why he enjoys physical contact so much but in time it can become pretty annoying. Thirdly Taker can often be found watching the sunset or stargazing. I assume it's just his way to relax and think his own thoughts. Lastly he just likes to observe everything around him, sometimes being still for hours and days.

Maybe the only negative sides of his personality are sudden waves of depression, being overly concerned at times, bloody hug-attacks that nearly cause a heart-attack and secrecy. TT often plots his plans on his own or doesn't tell much about his past, tasks and "job". He also isn't very good at expressing his feelings with words and often channels them to actions instead.

Since his golden ages are over and his list gets shorter (takers call "the list" the persons they're assigned to go after and usually they know it years ahead) Taker has more free time to concentrate on what he loves, which also makes him happier. He isn't the type to worry too much about the future but will act to make it better.

Abilities

kill me now... I dunno where to even start.

* As a Death Angel he can summon a scythe, forming it out of his own energy and nature. Not all takers have scythe as weapon of choice, it can be a sword or two, katana(s), daggers, whips etc. Just nothing that can fire or shoot, build needs to be simple. Every weapon is unique to its taker.

* Regeneration. When his body is damaged or he just feels like changing the looks then all he needs to do is to teleport near lava pit, leave crystals (and clothes eue) waiting and jump right in. The heat both destroys his body and gives energy to form a new one. He has to stay really focused when forming a new one but when he's got certain pattern used over and over again then it's easier. How he thinks/focuses without a brain, I don't know...

* Can appear as whatever he wants to appear as. Only limitations are size (because the heat from magma doesn't offer too much for colossal sizes) and that the body has to have basic nerve system. Otherwise anything will do and his current look is just his trademark.

* Since internal organs aren't needed (except lungs so he could talk) then the free space is used to storage smaller items and his necklaces. Stuffing himself will result disturbing the movements so no way Josè he'd do that. Only in case of really real emergency.

* Levitating and being weightless. Yeap, guy can ignore the existence of gravity and can be lighter than a feather.

* In addition to levitation he can fly with remarkable speed. Although teleportation is preferred for longer distances.

* Turning unsolid. When living beings can't usually touch him then he can manipulate objects. When he doesn't feel like it or needs to go through walls then no problemo, distribute atoms a bit and there he goes.

* The same method allows him to turn invisible.

* I quite can't explain how he teleports but he can do that as well. He can also teleport objects with him (but not very big ones and with slightly shorter distances, otherwise it tears him apart). He can also teleport living beings but to do so he needs to achieve physical contact first. Everything seems to have twists these days...

* Saving extra energy to his crystals. Yup he can drain couple nukes just for fun (if they haven't gone off yet) or suck energy out of beings (not all energy, he's not allowed to kill) or arrange nice power cut.

* He can also save memories and skills on his crystals, that's why he can still remember a lot and seems to know almost everything. Only he can access them unless some other taker figures out the memory wave patterns among the energy.

* Possessing beings. He can take over someone's body (unless soul's defensive mechanism is too strong) and achieve full control. He can't possess it for long because it damages the creature's body, starting with the brain and ending with death. Just few minutes can cause a headache but over 15 minutes of possession leaves permanent damages. The exception is the Key whom he can fuse with for longer period of time. That's another long story...

* Knows almost all languages that were and are on Earth. He has learned them just for hobby and dead languages are saved on his crystals since there's no more need for them. Just don't expect me to speak all of them when RPing with him

* Mentioned being a complete nerd before...

* He can direct some energy out of his body that it forms something shield-like aroudnd him, accompanied by a nice lightshow. It's only for the case of real emergency because it leads to being overpowered pretty fast (overpowering section is under disadvantages). Sometimes he forces the energy to take a shape of thin wings just to show off, that action won't harm him that fast.

* Since he feels no pain he's pretty deadly enemy in combats (puns, puns all the way...). For example, chop his arm off and he'll respond with the same right away. Body parts that no longer receive energy from crystals dissolve and turn to black mist that remains floating around him till he regenerates. Parts can't be "glued" back, he has to regenerate as whole and if more than around 60% of his body is destroyed all parts turn to mist.

Disadvantages

* Not many can see him and almost nobody can touch him thanks to every living being's self-defense mechanism. All souls actually try to avoid takers and as a result they've evolved that way. The ones with specific mutations or just malfunctioning mechanism can see him and at first only his Key can touch him. That's the main reason he and other takers feel quite lonely and crave for contact with the living. Oh, and dying people can see them for a short period of time as well since the soul's defense mechanism fails first.

* Take all his crystals away and his body falls apart after several minutes to several hours. He can store some amount of energy in his body but not enough for longer periods of time. When body dissolves it becomes the black haze and stays that way if he doesn't get energy to regenerate.

* He can't summon the scythe or teleport without necklaces. Earring is enough to keep him together and active but other activities demand bigger flow of energy that just the earring can't provide.

* And when speaking of crystals, it'll be the end of the world when these happen to get damaged. The amount of energy he has stored in them can easily beat all nuclear weapons on Earth and when it becomes unstable after crystals get damaged then he can't control it anymore. Cons of collecting it for so long... stoopid pisshead.

* Can't stand EMPs (electromagnetic pulses), magnetic storms and any other "forces" that disturb the energy flow between his crystals and him or that jam his brainwaves/ brain activity.

* Low temperatures are a nope. Since his body naturally doesn't produce heat he starts to freeze below 0C. Movements become slower and clumsier till he's frozen to the bone and stuck that way for the rest of the eternity. He can channel energy from crystals into heat but that demands extra concentration and he'd rather not do that.

* If he's forced to channel a lot of energy from crystals to his body then after a while he reaches the state of being overpowered. As a result, his body can't take it anymore and begins to crack up. Then orange glowing goo starts to ooze from everywhere (basically he starts to bleed in his own way) that is just the corrupted energy. He has to regenerate right away or his body dissolves and he returns in his original state: the black haze. Then he has lost all the energy and needs to start over with his whole existence.

* Since his scythe is a part of him then it can be used to manipulate with him if someone actually manages to steal it and preserve in right conditions.

* Like every other Death Angel Taker is Death's slave, a mere puppet to obey and accomplish tasks. It's not his to decide who dies and who lives.

* Instead of sleep he sometimes "shuts down" to rearrange memories and just go through his head. When brain activity decreases during sleep then his rises and he's fully aware of what he's doing. The bad thing is that he'll be cut off from the surrounding environment and easily vulnerable.

* Doesn't have "feelings" or "urges" in chemical level. Since he has no hormones then it could be difficult for him to understand certain behaviour and reactions at first. Though he has observed life for a very long time and there shouldn't be many surprises left for him.

* The more time he spends with the Key the more he starts to become closer to live being. I'll use lame comparison here just to explain it: Hope you've seen the movie "Hancock"? If yes then the thing between him and his Key works similar way as between Hancock and the blonde chick. The difference is that once this process starts then there's no way of reversing it after the Death Angel starts having a reflection and can cast a shadow. (Uhh there’s a list in what order things happen but that goes under “species” description.) When he leaves his Key he's stuck in the current state if it has reached that point, otherwise they start from 0 in several years. Now, it depends how far it has evolved but many other takers haven't made it to being alive since the final stages are nearly impossible to go through. Yes, takers actually die like every other being when they've found their Keys and decided to stay with them in hopes of being released from Death's slavery. It is possible to make it but all has to be perfectly timed and coded to the genetics. There are no second chances.

* Can't use smart devices since touch-function can't recognize his skin impulses. Not a biggie since he almost always has special pen for that with him. I just find it amusing.

* Can't leave planet Earth, he's bound to it. Buuuut thanks to his energy reserves he actually can XD
* If he doesn't turn unsolid occasionally then bacteria that have found their way into him (and even on his skin) slowly start to decompose his body. He's made of organic material that needs to be sterile :I

* Just a fun fact: takers can't kill those who have born on this planet but they can do anything they want to aliens. And to demonic beings and ghosts as well.
* And one more fun fact: when takers regenerate themselves into lifeless object then they stay that way until the object gets destroyed. If the last happens then the black haze is back.

* Regeneration. When his body is damaged or he just feels like changing the looks then all he needs to do is to teleport near lava pit, leave crystals (and clothes eue) waiting and jump right in. The heat both destroys his body and gives energy to form a new one. He has to stay really focused when forming a new one but when he's got certain pattern used over and over again then it's easier. How he thinks/focuses without a brain, I don't know...

* Can appear as whatever he wants to appear as. Only limitations are size (because the heat from magma doesn't offer too much for colossal sizes) and that the body has to have basic nerve system. Otherwise anything will do and his current look is just his trademark.

* Since internal organs aren't needed (except lungs so he could talk) then the free space is used to storage smaller items and his necklaces. Stuffing himself will result disturbing the movements so no way Josè he'd do that. Only in case of really real emergency.

* Levitating and being weightless. Yeap, guy can ignore the existence of gravity and can be lighter than a feather.

* In addition to levitation he can fly with remarkable speed. Although teleportation is preferred for longer distances.

* Turning unsolid. When living beings can't usually touch him then he can manipulate objects. When he doesn't feel like it or needs to go through walls then no problemo, distribute atoms a bit and there he goes.

* The same method allows him to turn invisible.

* I quite can't explain how he teleports but he can do that as well. He can also teleport objects with him (but not very big ones and with slightly shorter distances, otherwise it tears him apart). He can also teleport living beings but to do so he needs to achieve physical contact first. Everything seems to have twists these days...

* Saving extra energy to his crystals. Yup he can drain couple nukes just for fun (if they haven't gone off yet) or suck energy out of beings (not all energy, he's not allowed to kill) or arrange nice power cut.

* He can also save memories and skills on his crystals, that's why he can still remember a lot and seems to know almost everything. Only he can access them unless some other taker figures out the memory wave patterns among the energy.

* Possessing beings. He can take over someone's body (unless soul's defensive mechanism is too strong) and achieve full control. He can't possess it for long because it damages the creature's body, starting with the brain and ending with death. Just few minutes can cause a headache but over 15 minutes of possession leaves permanent damages. The exception is the Key whom he can fuse with for longer period of time. That's another long story...

* Knows almost all languages that were and are on Earth. He has learned them just for hobby and dead languages are saved on his crystals since there's no more need for them. Just don't expect me to speak all of them when RPing with him

* Mentioned being a complete nerd before...

* He can direct some energy out of his body that it forms something shield-like aroudnd him, accompanied by a nice lightshow. It's only for the case of real emergency because it leads to being overpowered pretty fast (overpowering section is under disadvantages). Sometimes he forces the energy to take a shape of thin wings just to show off, that action won't harm him that fast.

* Since he feels no pain he's pretty deadly enemy in combats (puns, puns all the way...). For example, chop his arm off and he'll respond with the same right away. Body parts that no longer receive energy from crystals dissolve and turn to black mist that remains floating around him till he regenerates. Parts can't be "glued" back, he has to regenerate as whole and if more than around 60% of his body is destroyed all parts turn to mist.

Disadvantages

* Not many can see him and almost nobody can touch him thanks to every living being's self-defense mechanism. All souls actually try to avoid takers and as a result they've evolved that way. The ones with specific mutations or just malfunctioning mechanism can see him and at first only his Key can touch him. That's the main reason he and other takers feel quite lonely and crave for contact with the living. Oh, and dying people can see them for a short period of time as well since the soul's defense mechanism fails first.

* Take all his crystals away and his body falls apart after several minutes to several hours. He can store some amount of energy in his body but not enough for longer periods of time. When body dissolves it becomes the black haze and stays that way if he doesn't get energy to regenerate.

* He can't summon the scythe or teleport without necklaces. Earring is enough to keep him together and active but other activities demand bigger flow of energy that just the earring can't provide.

* And when speaking of crystals, it'll be the end of the world when these happen to get damaged. The amount of energy he has stored in them can easily beat all nuclear weapons on Earth and when it becomes unstable after crystals get damaged then he can't control it anymore. Cons of collecting it for so long... stoopid pisshead.

* Can't stand EMPs (electromagnetic pulses), magnetic storms and any other "forces" that disturb the energy flow between his crystals and him or that jam his brainwaves/ brain activity.

* Low temperatures are a nope. Since his body naturally doesn't produce heat he starts to freeze below 0C. Movements become slower and clumsier till he's frozen to the bone and stuck that way for the rest of the eternity. He can channel energy from crystals into heat but that demands extra concentration and he'd rather not do that.

* If he's forced to channel a lot of energy from crystals to his body then after a while he reaches the state of being overpowered. As a result, his body can't take it anymore and begins to crack up. Then orange glowing goo starts to ooze from everywhere (basically he starts to bleed in his own way) that is just the corrupted energy. He has to regenerate right away or his body dissolves and he returns in his original state: the black haze. Then he has lost all the energy and needs to start over with his whole existence.

* Since his scythe is a part of him then it can be used to manipulate with him if someone actually manages to steal it and preserve in right conditions.

* Like every other Death Angel Taker is Death's slave, a mere puppet to obey and accomplish tasks. It's not his to decide who dies and who lives.

* Instead of sleep he sometimes "shuts down" to rearrange memories and just go through his head. When brain activity decreases during sleep then his rises and he's fully aware of what he's doing. The bad thing is that he'll be cut off from the surrounding environment and easily vulnerable.

* Doesn't have "feelings" or "urges" in chemical level. Since he has no hormones then it could be difficult for him to understand certain behaviour and reactions at first. Though he has observed life for a very long time and there shouldn't be many surprises left for him.

* The more time he spends with the Key the more he starts to become closer to live being. I'll use lame comparison here just to explain it: Hope you've seen the movie "Hancock"? If yes then the thing between him and his Key works similar way as between Hancock and the blonde chick. The difference is that once this process starts then there's no way of reversing it after the Death Angel starts having a reflection and can cast a shadow. (Uhh there’s a list in what order things happen but that goes under “species” description.) When he leaves his Key he's stuck in the current state if it has reached that point, otherwise they start from 0 in several years. Now, it depends how far it has evolved but many other takers haven't made it to being alive since the final stages are nearly impossible to go through. Yes, takers actually die like every other being when they've found their Keys and decided to stay with them in hopes of being released from Death's slavery. It is possible to make it but all has to be perfectly timed and coded to the genetics. There are no second chances.

* Can't use smart devices since touch-function can't recognize his skin impulses. Not a biggie since he almost always has special pen for that with him. I just find it amusing.

* Can't leave planet Earth, he's bound to it. Buuuut thanks to his energy reserves he actually can XD
* If he doesn't turn unsolid occasionally then bacteria that have found their way into him (and even on his skin) slowly start to decompose his body. He's made of organic material that needs to be sterile :I

* Just a fun fact: takers can't kill those who have born on this planet but they can do anything they want to aliens. And to demonic beings and ghosts as well.
* And one more fun fact: when takers regenerate themselves into lifeless object then they stay that way until the object gets destroyed. If the last happens then the black haze is back.

Also the fun thing is I can't prohibit you from making your own Death Angel since they're can't be handled a species and are more of a myth IRL .___. That is my way of interpreting them. Just don't copy TT's characteristic and looks, okay?
