The Kinks - Sitting In The Midday Sun

Everybody thinks I'm crazy,
And everybody says I'm dumb,
But when I see the people shouting at each other
I'd rather be an out of work bum.

Dedicated to Hassane an excellent photographer and a truly soulful person...thanks dude

This gentleman is one of the many that seek some inside warmth from the bitter cold streets of New York during winter months. He was standing near a NBC New York TV news station advertisement of their weatherman "singing in the rain". Certainly comfortable with his success and that he has a job...no doubt. But for many is the bitter reality of not being as blessed with economic achievement. They seemingly have so little and care even less about how the world sees them. I'm not certain if they even see themselves anymore. Like this gentleman who was half dressed and trying desperately to light a cigarette, perhaps his only current possession besides the clothes on his back, with the last match in the book in a room full of commuters all rushing to climb the ladder of prosperity.

Ah, the good old days of when DA was fun and DD's meant something
Thank you so much for getting me to relive that time if only for a moment, Riki

It's so true, Richard....I just don't get the DDs anymore. It's sort of sad remembering how it used to be. And now, being a photographer, my chance at one is 0%. Used to be I might have had a slim chance. But anyway, I hate suggesting now..no one listens, especially to any photography of any kind suggestions. sigh...

Yeah, photography has been hit the hardest. I think there is only one CV left for nearly all the genres. I thought the CV'sΒ  "job" was for only one year but I see that some have been there for what seems like forever. I know, I've given up suggesting DD's for photography. The last time I did was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. I suggested a DD and got I reply, finally, from this CV who said, "I don't award DD's for old work. Only recent stuff." Well fuck that stupidity.

You know, I got that same reply from someone too. And the work wasn’t that old. Then I saw someone reward a literary DD on an old work for someone who hadn’t been to DA for over a year. I know, because I watch the person...I ran checking to see if they’d returned. Still not to this day. They all follow their own rules. I still suggest, but only with half a heart and not as often. I know it won’t get the DD.

Thank you very much, Jess...it's an old one. I just wanted to give it a second life so to speak by adding the black border so that it would match the rest of my stuff. I hear ya on that...and I'm glad it's only sometimes

To me "framing" a photograph is the completion of the creative process of the photographic chain. Unframed = hung on refrigerator. Framed = hung on the wall. In life...presentation carries a lot of weight

White matting is the industry standard for B&W photographs. Just check any museum/gallery. I use black matting because...well...because I ain't normal

I like your style of black matting! Seriously considering borders soon although I feel it'd be a tough transition for me to get used to just because I haven't ever.
