Man, I really wish I could build a habitat/play pen like this for the ratties.

This is a wonderful shot. Rats unlike most other rodents are natural swimmers. Domestic rats rarely get the chance to get I deep water though.

I take mine with me when I go out walking. And if water is warm enough, I let him have some fun

When I was younger my rats would go with me everywhere. I introduced my daughter to having them as pets and she is now on her third rat. Unfortunately none of them have had an opportunity to go swimming.

Yea rats are very good swimmers but I would be carefull with putting them into cold water. My daughter used to bath her female rat and after that she suffered severe and recurring pneumonia. Fortunately vets had made it and she died long after and not because of it.
