Well, this is just a work-in-progress but I went ahead and posted it anyway because I'm sick of not having any finished artwork. I'm gearing up to tell a fantasy story using graphics on the Web. I like vector art as a medium ~but it takes too long~! This was supposed to be a "fifteen minute sketch" but it took me fully an hour just to lay down these lines. And this is just a rough. What am I doing wrong? Can anyone point me to a tutorial on using Inkscape to do manga-style characters? Should it take so long to do character art in vectors? Sorry for being such a noob...Related content

Thanks for the feedback ~~ yeah it definitely seems challenging. But your point is spot on ~~ I like the possibility of re-usable libraries of characters and objects. Theoretically. I'll have to find out how it works in practice if I can ever get this story going!
Cheers

Yes, yes it should take you that long. Vector is a challenge, even if you're experienced. It's almost ALWAYS more time-consuming than digital or traditional mediums, but hey, you can't get the 'vector look' any other way, so stick with it! It's well worth the effort. And if you create a vector template for a character, you can theoretically reuse and reposition it, which would work well for a web-comic!
Nice pic, by the way!
