So I bought a Death Note at CPAC, but it's so nice, I don't want to write in it! So I decided to make my own out of an old composition notebook I had lying around. It's fairly simple and pretty straightforward; if you have any problems, let me know and I'll be glad to help you out!

Gaffer's tape is perfect for this because, unlike paint, it won't warp the paper or cardboard of the cover, and it's also fabric-y, which matches the look of the binding already on the spine of most composition notebooks. It's a little expensive -- $25 dollars a roll, according to my dad -- but if you're making several Death Notes, or need it for another project, it's definitely worth it!

The larger notebook took me maybe an hour to cover in tape (because I was being very careful) and another hour to paint and tape the rules page in. The little one took a good bit less than that.
