A scene from the finale of City of Ashes, by Cassandra Clare. This is one of my all time favorite scenes, not only because it's Magnus and Alec. It's just so raw, and gives me chills every time I read it! I wanted to paint it as close to the way I saw it in my head, before something changed it for me :]

Alec is thrown from the boat, and is pulled from the water by Magnus, who has been working tirelessly and thanklessly in the truck keeping up his spells to help them, and uses more energy still to rescue Alec. Alec soon realizes how exhausted Magnus is, and offers him the use of his own energy, whatever help it might be. Magnus does all he does out of love for Alec and this is one of the first times Alec puts aside everything for Magnus' sake in return.
