Claim XR in the Disney Good Guy Collab, I said. How hard can he be to draw, I said. So many sketches I've thrown away of this guy and he's a freaking cylinder with limbs. I need to turn in my artist's card. XD

Another entry to the Good Guy Collab. Unlike Bonkers, this entry is considered optional; I'm just fluffing up the collab with some delicious Disney TV show goodness and the rest of my optional entries will be the same way.
I'm thinking about taking on one of the Gummi Bears or one of the Wuzzles after this guy.

Also, if Darkwing Duck wasn't my favorite, my favorite Disney show would be Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. In terms of production values (no wonky, inconsistent animation for this show! Hint hint, some episodes in Darkwing Duck.) and story writing, it really is one of the best of the Disney shows. I feel this show was when the Disney Afternoon writing and animation hit its peak. Dude, the action sequences. The acting. I have nothing but love to shower upon this cartoon.

And yet I get the feeling not many people watched the show and that Disney is ignoring this show's existence. If you haven't seen this show, do yourself a favor and look up the pilot movie of this show. It was one of the pinnacles of Disney animation and I'm a little sad that we didn't get more shows like this before switching to a more Flash-based, graphic style of animating. Which isn't bad; I just wish we had more action-orientated shows in the same vein as this show.

I went with XR over Booster, on account he feels like the mascot of the show, which ended up biting me in the butt because this guy is deceptively hard to draw. In my defense, kind of my first time drawing ANYTHING remotely like XR; I'm sure the next drawings I draw of him will get his feet right. XD

Course, on the flip side, he was ridiculously easy to shade. Because cylinders.

I definitely got a few things wrong with his design, mainly his feet, which I've redrawn so many times that they're starting to drive me nuts, and the Star Command insignia which totally isn't following the contour of his body there. I'll try to fix the feet (because I know I drew them off-model) after work and see if I can salvage the Star Command logo.

But for now I'm posting this up so I don't miss the deadline because it was down to the wire. Goes to show I shouldn't apply for things before my holiday shifts.
