Description
Created with Apophysis 2.06 3D hack.Edit as of 10/17/08: This piece has always been a subject of debate for me as of its standing in my gallery. I never liked all of the hot spots I produced when rendering this, but I also loved the numerous shapes (especially the helix) I got out of it.
The public has obviously spoken. Thanks a lot for the support, everyone.
Comments and critiquing greatly appreciated.

I couldn't really put that concept into a fractal form.
Very funny.

wow.....i can sort of see that being the looking glass of some higher being...something through which to watch the world of mortals, what with all that path-like designs

Whoa, that looks like some kind of complicated gizmo yet, not actually a machine at all. It looks so unique!

Nothing pulls off the dusty effect like a nice blue, I think. Thanks for the comment!

I don't see how it could be better, and as to whether its a keeper or not, the DD should tell you what we think. Very nice work, keep it up

Definitely something to add. It's a nice piece and u could try expanding on ur knowledge of dynamism to strengthen that fluid motion u have goin on. Also, u cud soften some of the areas to make the center piece(s) pop, while toning down the background. Nice job tho I like it

I definitely agree with you on softening up some places on this piece. The hot spots generated when first rendering this were tremendous. The final render isn't that much better, although I'll try to do a re-render and see how it looks. Thanks for the critique.

Thanks a lot! The idea came out of nowhere, so I decided to see if I could put it in fractal form.

Fractals are awesome (although I don't know how to make them ), especially when you've got an abstract idea. but even if it's not abstract, it's still really cool! I'll check out your gallery real soon!

My critique isn't with the artwork, it's with the artist... he's too hard on himself
This is amazing... truly. For some reason it reminds me of a close-up of guitar knobs on an electric guitar with light rays coming from it... maybe they should make a fractal design fender eh?

A fractal Fender? I don't even play guitar and I'd want that.

i really like the color choice and trailing designs,
even as it looks mechanical it looks fluid as well

The blur really balanced out a lot of the edgy shapes that appear here. The first render without it looked very rough and in need of some soft shapes.

I think I got really lucky with this piece. I knew next to nothing about Apo 3D at the time and now I still know about the same. XD
