I let six weeks go by without a new journal entry. My explanation is that I'm a graduate student of Geophysics and that's been taking up most of my spare time. I don't watch TV, go to movies, and any spare time I do have is either working with my family or fixing stuff for the neighbors. The rest is spent grading homework, reading journals, doing my own homework, taking my kids to their various school functions, or shoveling snow. It's been a brutal winter thus far. Though - - - I *did* replace the chain & clutch on the VFR800FI, and I *did* ride it into the college one day. It looked a bit odd to park a bright yellow sportbike on the snow, and getting it back out was a bit dicey - but it satisfied my motorcycle itch.

A few weeks ago I attended a small fur con in Grand Rapids, Michigan with some college friends: Fellow graduate students. We went and got to meet some of the other folks from Michigan in this hobby; I hope to see them again in the spring at an event in Novi. In other news concerning Tycho, I have been asked again to be one of the mascots for the 2014 Sparrow Foundation's Michigan Mile. Just what I need, more RUNNING while in fursuit - It ought to be a treat!

My fundraising and charity efforts are however, not as well lined up this year, mostly because I spend so much time at the university as I prepare for my written and oral comprehensives that will be coming up in August.

So, that's almost it. One other thing. My oldest son is graduating from high school this year. He's been accepted to a good engineering university, and I'm quite proud of him. He doesn't usually listen to me much, because he's hard-headed and tenacious. So everything he's learned about computers has been rather independently learned; I cannot take any credit for his achievements. He's going into computer sciences and engineering and I don't doubt he'll likely change the world.

I'm on the final stretch as a university undergraduate, Chemical/Software Engineering and Mathematics! I've got my main project subject next semester and going from friends' descriptions, it's certain to be a treat...I can't imagine the kind of work graduates have to do!

Congratulations on your son! Tell him from me that Software Engineering is where it's at!

Definitely congratulations, and I look forward to hearing about your first job when it's through.

As for me, I am err, feeling like I'm too old for this grad school game.

Very tired at the moment. Sputtering on just five out of nine of my Lycoming radial cylinders and there's smoke pouring out of the tail & half my rudder's been shot off.

...and thanks for the encouragement, I will let my son know.

Heh, thanks! I've gotta do 12 weeks work experience these Christmas holidays. Don't know how THAT'S gonna go...

I'm sure just about every grad student feels like a broken prop plane this close to the end. I bet having a family to look after makes it harder though. Still, all the more reason to make them proud!

Best of luck with all of it!

I really should be studying and reading journals to finish that thesis. I really need to get out of this university.

Take it easy Tycho, get everything straightened out so that you can do charities with peace in mind :3
