Etymology: 徐福 “Gradual Good Fortune”; previously known as Kō ([香] “Fragrance”)

Inhabitants: Yashudara and Asura Ōtsutsuki, the early Senju clan (as Kō); the Tsukishita clan (as Jofuku)

History

Before the Great Split, and a stone’s throw away from the monolithic Mount Hōrai, there was a humble mountain that had its own claim to fame: Mount Kō, which got its name from the many fragrant herbs growing there. From these herbs, many perfumes, potpourris, and incenses were made, which brought revenue to the otherwise insignificant mountain.

After the Great Split, the mountain split off as part of Nanakusa Island and is now named Mount Jofuku.
