Description This is my first ever tutorial. I hope it helps. But i realise that some of the newcomers might not understand everything. I'd really like some feedback no matter what people thought of it. Thanks guys!

PS. as far as the HDR image goes you can use any panoramic HDR image.

Only problem is, that even though I added the skylight and turned the shadows on, I get no shadows. Where's the problem?

i'm not too sure. if you checked the box in the modifiers panel it should work. when there is skylight it isn't solid shadows. because it is more like ambient light rather than a spotlight or direct sunlight. so you wont see shadows unless it is really close to the object. you can tell if it's not working if the objects are being rendered as one flat colour (this would be pretty obvious)

if all else fails, are you running older hardware? i'm guessing if it cant handle it, it might not render shadows at all. hope this helped

It would help if you provided a link to a place to get Vray, but it doesn't really matter that much.

It's also a little confusing as to where your HDRI came from.

But all in all, rather nice, and very well done. Good job.

thanks a bunch for the feedback. i'm sure you can get a Trial version of Vray from the Chaos Group website. but i cant tell you obtain a copy via the internet. alot of these full versions available give you the opportunity to register the product. providing you have access to a legal registration code.

with the HDR file i just browsed my c: drive for the hdr file itself. it's just a image file like a jpeg. if you want the file i used just tell me and i'll pm you.

Cough Azureus cough. I am well aware that things are free on the internet if you know where to look.

I have no particular interest in that particular HDRI, I was just pointing out that in your tutorial it appears pretty much from thin air.

And no problem on the feedback, it's a pretty good tutorial.
