PC Zone declared HL2 the greatest game ever, with 97% but one of their (minor) criticisms was that there's not much multiplayer content in the basic version... We're counting on you guys to step into the breach (sorry)

Bice piece I like it overall though I do think it would have looked much better without the grainyness on the right hand side.

Very nice... I wish I found brushes that I actually liked or am comfortable with, you seem to have definitely achieved that. I do like the colors, I'm assuming it's the sun striking the transport above the overcast? BTW, i noticed the mobile tanks, nice touch

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ukitakumuki In reply to casus-solari [2004-10-09 01:15:13 +0000 UTC]

yes it is actually, sun striking it over another transport , hence the geometric shade...

just an excuse to break up a form

hmm.... you definitly got great skill, no doubt about it. But... I don't know, Im not very into the things you do, I don't find them expressive or anything, which surely was not your objective, but still. Do you enjoy painting things like these?
It's a great work, heh I don't understand what it is completly... but I like whats in the background.. the land below I assume, but the sky has this... kind of sandy texture I dont like.
If I were you, I could play with the blur tool to get some things out of focus... mainly for centering attention, I actually would do that in a lot of your pics . Great pic, like I said before, KEEP IT UP!!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ukitakumuki In reply to auramante [2004-10-09 01:23:42 +0000 UTC]

hiya thanks, I for one, paint with certain focus in mind, like you said.

For such pieces, its for you to abstract your own feelings if you were a gamer and you could imagine that scene in a cargo bay 20000 feet up... along with your teammates as they prep for a combat hotdrop

That sandy texture is film grain which i added (personal like)

I did use blur quite a bit as well. Sometimes, centering too much attention detracts from what could be a 'free-wander' pic.

thank you

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

auramante In reply to ukitakumuki [2004-10-09 16:08:23 +0000 UTC]

yes, that of the "free-wander" I agree... and I realised that after I left that comment.... since your pictures have many details, and not a "main character".
And yes, I bet for a gamer is quite a trip ..or adventure. But what is it for? ...what makes you draw things like this? ..not so much as what you want to share but, what you want to... plasmate? sorry, english is not my main language (sure you noticed long ago).
The reason why Im into all this is.... I like to draw or paint.. from my "heart" ...I try to ..load it all with emotions, a way to express myself, and to ..release my demons. But when I do a.. "pretty" picture... something that looks nice but doesn't express much... I end up... ignoring it, annoys me, sometimes I cant even finish it. So... I kinda suppose the same happens to some people, thats it.
Of course I like what you do, heh, I don't comment on things I don't like .
Smell a rose

ukitakumuki In reply to auramante [2004-10-09 17:58:14 +0000 UTC]

haha, thanks for understanding! I think that it is Very important to paint from the heart as well.. but that borders more on fine art, would you agree? As a design student, trained the wa i am, i choose not to.. and opt for more control. I like the idea of reaching out to more ppl, rather than telling a self-ish story. (not a bad thing)

cheers, and that rose smells good! haha

sexxay >=3. lol. don't mind the weird comments. I still love it. Kickass for just two hours. I wonder if you remember me from billions upon billions of years ago when I was a wee devy newbie. lol! I can still remember the first piece I saw from you and a lot of your early pieces. But the one that really sticks out in my mind is the penguin one, standing atop a mech. I even remember the one with the submarine and there was a penguin on top of that one too. Beats me... maybe I have a soft spot for penguins or something LOL!!. =3 In any case, great work again. Still watching, still commenting. =3
