CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Amy Rose
Nicknames: Rosy the Rascal
(The name "Princess Sally" was given to Amy in the American version of Sonic CD in a half-assed attempt to initially promote the impending SatAM Sonic the Hedgehog TV series. The actual Princess Sally looks and acts nothing like Amy and the name "Princess Sally" is NOT a nickname of Amy's, nor is it even part of the Sonic Team continuity.)
Race: Hedgehog
(Speculation: If you choose to get technical, Amy is most likely an African Pygmy Hedgehog, since that is the most common, well known species of hedgehog.)
Gender: Female
Age: 12 years of age
Date of Birth: Unknown
(Amy's DOB is generally confirmed as September 23rd, since that was the release of her first video game. However, it is not canon to the video game storyline, as her true DOB is unknown. If you find it necessary to add her DOB nonetheless, September 23rd would be the most ideal choice.)
Birthplace: Unknown
Height: 90 centimeters (2 feet and 11 inches)
Weight: Secret
(Speculation: Nice try, hon. After finding the mean in the weight of most of the characters similar to her size and proportions and factoring in age and size, it's safe to assume that Amy's weight is somewhere between 23 to 27 kilograms or so.)
Ability Type: Speed
Alignment: Hero
Personality Details:
Amy is a hedgehog who has an absolutely hopeless crush on Sonic. That pretty much seems to be her gimmick. She first met Sonic by predicting with her tarot cards that she'd meet him on the Little Planet since she idolized the hedgehog and this immediately flowered into an all-out infatuation. Amy always tries her hardest to impress Sonic, especially by proving that she can be independent and do things (such as defeat Eggman) by herself, in spite of how many times she is captured by Dr. Robotnik and thus rescued by her true blue hero.
Unfortunately for her, Sonic sees Amy as an annoyance and is not at all hesitant to head for the hills if he so much as senses that she is nearby, since he knows that she is prone to lunge right at him and hug him tightly. But of course, on the inside, Sonic cares for Amy and considers her a good friend. Amy, however, would love to be Sonic's wife, rather than just his friend.
When she isn't obsessing over Sonic (which is RARE), Amy's positive, protective, erratic, cheerful attitude and optimistic urge to pull the team together is always beneficial to the cast. But like the hedgehog whom she seems to love, Amy's temper can at times be just as short. The sassy, quick-witted temper of hers is mostly accentuated vocally in the form of taunting and verbal slurs. But when she gets physical and exposes that infamous Piko Piko Hammer (which happens waaaay too damn often), she always manages to maintain authority, whether sheβs earned it or not.
Personal Information:
Family: N/A
Greatest Friend(s): Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower, Knuckles the Echidna, Cream the Rabbit & Cheese and Big the Cat.
Other Friend(s): Vector the Crocodile, Espio the Chameleon, Charmy Bee, Shadow the Hedgehog, Blaze the Cat, Rouge the Bat (when necessary) and Shade the Echidna.
Love Interest(s): Sonic the Hedgehog (unfortunately for him).
Rival(s): Blaze the Cat (Amy considers her a rival for Sonic's affections. Blaze doesn't feel the same way, though) and Rouge the Bat (for various petty reasons).
Foe(s): Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik, Metal Sonic, Eggman Nega, Storm the Albatross (to some extent; she has no trouble keeping the brute in line, however), anyone who tries to hurt or date Sonic, etc.
Likes: Sonic (a LOT).
Main Dislikes: Seeing others unhappy, boredom, those with immoral thoughts or evil intentions, anybody who seems to lack feelings or a conscience, being bored, anyone suggesting that Sonic doesn't share her feelings in any way, and of course girls Sonic seems to pay more attention to (which is a rarity, since she practically forces him to pay attention to her by getting captured every now and again).
Other Dislikes: She doesn't seem to appreciate Rouge's presence very much.
Hobbies: Hanging out with her friends in general, she loves predicting the future with her tarot cards; she fancies shopping, keeping track of trends and almost any kind of recreational activity. She's also a boxercise fanatic and enjoys searching for treasure by dowsing.
Favorite Food(s): Soft-serve Ice Cream.
Favorite Color(s): Unknown. Could be pink, red, or, if her theme song is any indication, blue.
Favorite Music Genre(s): Pop, Alternative Rock
Occupation: Unemployed, too young. How she can afford to shop the way she does is a mystery.
Place of Residence: An apartment in Central City.

Do you want to know why the Sonamy fans (myself included) say that Sonic is too shy to admit his feelings? It all began in a Disney Magazine where they ask the Sonic Team Headquarters to know if Sonic has romantic feelings for Amy back in 2006 I believe. This was their answer:sonicstorymaker2.weebly.com/up⦠You may not believe that's not a good enough reason for Sonic's shyness, but I'm only showing you to understand where does this "Sonic's too shy to confess his love" mentally come from. And I'm not even including the moments(obvious or subtle) that only adds fuel into the Sonamy fire.

Yeah, I read that. Sonic Team teases y'all like that to keep you interested, and it works every time. It's standard marketing.

So does that mean all my support, and the emphasizes of romantic scenes(intentional or not) was all for nothing?

I can't believe it. Do you have any proof, citation? Cause it sounds like you were trying to say the Sonic Team were telling us that it's going to happen for a decade, only to go on a 180 turn and giving the middle finger to the fans.

Amy's creator himself stated that she was never meant to be a genuine love interest in the first place.

I like her portrayal in Sonic Boom. She's more independent, mature, and definitely stronger. Also, unlike the original, she hides her crush for Sonic from the latter himself, which makes there's no clingy or cat-and-mouse chase by Amy (It is funny to me in some extent though).Β

Amy isn't exactly helpless without her hammer. She does possess a form of super strength. It was enough to take out Knuckles in Sonic generations. Btw good job on the profile. You kept it cannon! Yay!

UltimateGameMaster In reply to MamaHedgie [2013-10-11 14:23:30 +0000 UTC]
Thanks, but Knuckles wasn't "taken out". That was just for comedy, not a display of strength. Lately, it's a shtick for him to be smacked by Amy whenever he pulls the rival card on Sonic.

If Amy's used it in a game, I include it.

Never knew about the tarot card and divination bit... interesting. Was there any point in the games, comic books or shows in which this was mentioned or revealed somehow?
π: 0 β©: 1
UltimateGameMaster In reply to Director1265 [2013-02-02 01:32:03 +0000 UTC]
It was mentioned in CD, but sadly, the only game to outright state that she uses Tarot cards was Sonic Battle, and that was for one measly line.
π: 0 β©: 1
Director1265 In reply to UltimateGameMaster [2013-02-03 03:44:28 +0000 UTC]
Then why was it ever mentioned unless it had the potential to be an important plot device or character developer?
(Just so you know, I'm not blaming you for mentioning it, I'm blaming SEGA.)
π: 0 β©: 1
UltimateGameMaster In reply to Director1265 [2013-02-03 03:57:25 +0000 UTC]
Just for the sake of mentioning. One thing you have to remember regarding Sonic nowadays is that everything that isn't gameplay related is padding.
Story, character development, consistency, heck, even the graphics and music (sorta). ALL of that is meaningless compared to the gameplay, thanks to all the bitching and moaning that's been done since the Dreamcast Era.

Director1265 In reply to UltimateGameMaster [2013-02-03 05:23:50 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I kinda hate that about Sonic. I understand that gameplay is the most important thing about any game, but to completely disregard story and character development?! I personally think story and character development is among the most important aspects in any videogame. In fact, here's my ranking of importance when it comes to developing a videogame:
1. Gameplay
2. Story and Character Development
3. Graphics
4. Music
SEGA, and a lot of others, seem to have it THIS way:
1. Graphics
2. Music
3. Gameplay
4. Character development
36. Story

Unfortunately, with the vast majority of the gaming public...
You can have the best narrative and most cohesive, enjoyable story out there...but no one will give a damn if they don't want to play it.
A disappointing, yet sound argument.
So, until someone finds a way to craft stories that everyone can follow and enjoy, we're stuck with the same old, same old.

Colours was pretty good at least. It had a modest and light-hearted, but certainly more sincere, story than most of the Sonic games in the past years. I certainly prefered the simple approach that they had with it - as well as making Eggman more like his originally-designed self (i.e. not a megalomaniac 'evil for the sake of evil' villain, but a self-loving narcissist with a few screws loose).
