Personality Details:

Vanilla seems to be a rather simple woman. She has a mature disposition and a doting nature. She loves her daughter dearly and would do anything for her. That being said, though, she’s been known to be a rather strict disciplinarian. Despite giving her daughter whatever she wants or needs, Cream is very well mannered and lacks the selfish, spoiled personality one might expect, something that can only be attributed to Vanilla’s lessons.

This rabbit takes the antics of her daughter’s friends in stride, trusting them around Cream and apparently having enough confidence in her abilities to let her go off adventuring from time to time.

Historical Biography:

Of course, Vanilla’s past is unknown. We do not know who her husband is or was, nor do we know how long she’s been a single mom. What we do know is that she raised Cream for six peaceful years…until Dr. Robotnik went and kidnapped them both for his latest world domination scheme. Thankfully, she was rescued by Cream, Cheese, and their new friends – Sonic, Tails and Knuckles – and things seemed fine.

But, being the cruel persistent prick he is, Eggman tried snatching her again. Seeing Cream in tears over this pissed Sonic off thoroughly enough to go Super and smack Eggman one more time, rescuing Vanilla once more in a climactic close shave in Earth’s atmosphere.

Since then, Vanilla has kept watch over Cream as always, being a kind and dedicated mother, though she can be a bit exasperated by all the craziness her daughter gets into.

Impact on Series: Vanilla hasn’t made that much of an impact. She has a small fanbase, sure, but nothing that should give Sonic Team an excuse to make her playable. And even if they did, critics would have an absolute fit.

Original Designer: Yuji Uekawa

Design Process: Unconfirmed. Cream & Cheese's design process was probably similar to how all of the others were made. Many design sketches were made and Cream and Cheese were chosen. Simple as that.

Possible Design Inspirations: The only obvious design inspiration for Vanilla and her family are their names. Cream & Cheese is meant to emphasize the classic food topping, Cream Cheese, and Vanilla’s name is derived from that in order to keep to that theme.

Personal character analysis/commentary (by Ryan the Game Master):

This lady has two things that set her apart from the rest of the cast. One, she’s the only known parent (that’s still living) and two, she’s one of the few adults. Both factors make her quite interesting, at least to me. I can’t help but wonder what she gets up to when Cream is away. I mean, Cream had to have gotten her abilities from somewhere, right?

I’m not expecting Vanilla to be made playable any time soon, but it would be a sight to see. If it were up to me, she’d have a dynamic backstory to go along with her playable debut.
