Going way back to 1987, another deep cut is Faust, a graphically violent and explicitly sexual indie darling that set the world on fire with Love of the Damned, his first series. Tim Vigil brought the mayhem in bucketloads and every page was a blood soaked delight. He was essentially a horror flavoured Wolverine and Batman and was before Spawn, who he may have helped inspire. I remember back in the late '80s when the comic Faust was this secret thing that only the the really weird and really hip nerds knew about. Comic shops kept their copies hidden under the counter and people only spoke of it in whispers. It was ahead of it's time then and the world probably still isn't ready for it. This picture is a cool tribute to the ultimate "Cult" superhero.Β
