What Dash has always been the one in the group that had the absolute most to gain from becoming a villain. Always being criticized for either being too lazy or pulling pranks. It's just sad that she's not allowed to have her version of a fun time without having an imaginary leash being put on her because of the situation getting out of control.

Holy carp, now you know how Eakin must have felt when the time loop episode had Spike saying "well that didn't work"... Or how SS&E must have felt when they had a green girl who nobody was able to remember... or... let's just come right out and say that they probably aren't actually following that "writers do not read fanfiction" policy but they keep it on the books to cover their asses in court.

Uh, actually this picture was a reaction to the short teaser (-> derpibooru.org/1531489 ), which showed Chrysalis'.. plotting.. back in September.
So, no, this situation is different from "Well that didn't work".. which could also just have been an odd coincidence.. or a very subtle shout-out.. nobody will ever know for sure.
