I repainted his entire robot mode for a more metallic look, more like his on-screen look. Rat and ratrod modes got chrome silver pipes and feet but that's all.I do wish I could make the back parts rotate so the rat butt is on his shoulders like in the show, but it would just be too much work and probably end up less sturdy due to how he transforms.

TO BE PERFECTLY HONEST WITH YOU "U.9." , I KIND OF "LIKE" THAT YOU LEFT IT THAT WAY .
IT LOOKS MUCH BETTER THAN THE OLD , ORIGINAL TOY DESIGN AND QUITE FRANKLY IT LOOKS AS IF IT TURNS INTO A BACK-SUPPORTED BLAST-SHIELD OF SORTS , (to my eyes anyway) !
AND SINCE RAT-TRAP "IS" SUPPOSED TO BE THE DEMO./EXPLOSIVES EXPERT OF THE TEAM , IT's ACTUALLY RATHER FITTING THAT HE SHOULD HAVE SOMETHING LIKE THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE !

I will never know why they never gave him a gun, I only recall him using that whip once in the show (as an ore).

Oh he used the tail whip a few times, but yeah, as the team's marksman he should have come with a gun.

when I was a kid, I used to take the RID Sideswipe's mini gun. Course it never was show accurate and it wasn't easy storing it in rat mode.

I always wondered why Ratrap's head looks like an exposed golden brain.

Because originally they wanted to incorporate the cyber-internal organs of the animals into the robot modes some, like Cheetor having the guts on his gun and such. Seems they ditched that idea early on, but it was one of the signature things about Rattrap's look so I guess they just kept it for his Transmetal form.

It does make sense if they made him transform like it was in the show, but I doubt they would go through all that effort for a toy.

Well the figures always came first in Beast Wars, so Mainframe designed the show models off of them. I liked the differences they added to make them look better, especially in season 1, where most of the figures looked like dog barf. I wish they hadn't done that change to Rattrap though because it makes the toy look so wrong...
