{Supportive | Reliable and Patient | Hardworking | Practical| Neophobic | Realistic}
Supportive: Sam is always ready to offer a kind word or a small note letting others know that they are important or doing a great job. She's one of those rare people who are genuinely sincere when she compliments someone, and would rather say nothing than give a negative comment. She was a cheerleader in high school, and she never truly grew out of that role.
Reliable and Patient: Always a good girl, Sam is the person you know will do what she says and never complain about it. After all, she's glad to help! She will handle things with a smile and clear words, sometimes adopting that special tone and cadence nurses and teachers use when explaining things to kids and upset patients. Nothing gets done if you're in a hurry.
Hardworking: Good day's pay for a good day's work. Sam was raised in a military household with agricultural roots. There are no handouts in life, and, if there is, only the lazy take them. Your duty is to make a contribution to society; your reward is a comfortable retirement.
Practical: There is a group of people whose every action serves to be useful in some way. Even their decorations are useful. These are the people who have repurposed furniture and a thousand ways to creatively organize everything. No inch of space is wasted on the frivolous, and nothing goes to waste. They give clothes at Christmas. This is Sam.
Neophobic: Most people hate routine, upset when they look at their lives and see the proverbial ruts they're stuck in. Not Sam. She embraced the mundane in her life, happy to know that tomorrow would be the same as today, and, even now, she fights for that. There's so much uncertainty in her world now that she can barely handle it, so meals at the same time, laundry on the same day, and the steady tick of the seasons bring her comfort.
Realistic: This is her world now. Dusty's never coming back, and the only constant is the rising and setting of the sun. If you survive another day, that's the most anyone can hope for, but the time for dreams (and, maybe, hope) is over. It's like being a nurse again: Someone is going to die, and you'll do good just to be prepared.
. Character Alignment: Lawful Neutral
. Strengths: Loyal, Empathetic, Observant, Enthusiastic
. Weaknesses: Doesn't Accept Help, Works Herself To Exhaustion, Keeps Her Emotions to Herself
. Quirks: Calls everyone "honey" or "buddy". Scrubs her skin almost raw when she "bathes".
. Hobbies: Mostly domestic chores. She keeps a diary but doesn't consider it a hobby. She jogs in the morning.
. Skills: She's an RN (registered nurse), having just completed her NCLEX-PN . This means she's got the knowledge of an RN, but not much practice. She has a kitschy level of understanding in food preservation, and considers herself crafty with a sewing needle. She can shoot a gun well enough to hit what she's aiming for, but gets less accurate under pressure.
✖ H I S T O R Y:
Born to Samuel John and Cathy Johnson in Copperhead Creek, Samantha Johnson was named after her father but was blessed with her mother's looks. An only child, she was that cute little blonde-haired cherub who easily played with frogs and worms as she did dolls. As she grew up, she spent her time between her grandparents' farm and her own neighborhood where she'd romp with the boys. She learned old timey domestic skills from her grandmother, and how to ride a horse and drive a tractor from her grandfather. From her dad, she learned to hunt, and her mom instilled in her Faith and inspired her to become a nurse. By high school, Sam had grown into a girl all the boys wanted, but she had her heart hung on Dustin "Dusty" Williams. He played football while she was a cheerleader. Everyone knew they'd get married.
And, they did, but only after Dusty joined the Marines. Which was fine. Sam settled into the life of a military wife while earning her degree. She got to know other military wives and, when she began her clinic work, she became friends with a few of those women. She'd busy herself with work and social obligations until Dusty came home then she'd slip back into what she called 'Us'. It was all a wonderful routine. Predictable.
The news of the outbreak was greeted like the news of any other outbreak-- taken seriously but not truly understanding or accepting the true voracity of it. Rumors of the dead coming back to life was scoffed at, ignored, until a few appeared a state over. Then on camera. Then at the morgue in Dallas. Then the National Guard was called in. Then the Army. The evacuations came next, and, after that, the Marines were called in. Dusty gifted Blue to Sam for company and protection before reluctantly leaving. Things only got worse from there.
But not in Copperhead Creek. It was blissfully spared for the longest. One day, though, there was a feeling in the air, and it was soon discovered that It had come to their town. Communication broke down followed by electricity and other infrastructure. People fled, terrified of it happening to them. Sam denied it, though, believing the cases she saw only to be miscalled deaths to some disease they hadn't researched yet. She was one of the last to stop working and to leave her suburban neighborhood when things went to hell. Sam packed her things and Blue and set out for her parents' house only to find they had left for her grandparents' farm. Halfway there, she had to leave her car, as the road was jammed with other cars. Her trip was for nothing; three graves and her father dead from suicide were the only things that greeted her when she got there.
Sam, having nowhere else to go, tried to stay at the farmhouse, but she was soon chased out by looters. Before she left, though, she loaded up on supplies and ammo. She decided that she'd try to make it to Dallas to find Dusty. It became clear that she wouldn't, as she became hopelessly lost and almost caught by walkers. It was a sheer accident that she found the ranch after being so horribly turned around in the woods.
Her accident soon became the miracle she needed.

PoP Advanced Pet
. Name: Blue
. Breed: Belgian Malinois
. Sex: Male
. Personality: Blue is still fairly young, but he has several generations of police dog in his veins, and he is already demonstrating the instinctual urges to protect his mistress. He's playful and a bit derpy, but he also is eager to please, taking to learning commands with gusto. He's nearly fearless, only finding the resident turkey a strange creature without rhyme or reason that sends him yelping away at the first gobble.
