Monster type/species Description: In time, Noxic will come to learn that ze is just a personification of how humans viewed world. A being brought into existence by a fervent need to understand the world, how it worked, why it allowed bad things to happen, and, most importantly, a need to place blame on something.

But for now, Noxic has no clue what ze is. Ze has never seen another being just like zim, and those who were similar were just too… different for Noxic to consider being the same thing. People’s thoughts hold sway over zir abilities, and Noxic has learned that the more people fear and worship zim, the more power ze has. Obviously, Noxic concluded wrongfully, this makes zim a demigod. Zir true form is a larger-than-average corvid with too many eyes and grotesquely long limbs.

Weakness:

-Flightless: Despite the corvid form, Noxic is incapable of flight. Ze hates it.

-Physically Weak: Noxic is tiny. Tinier than ze would like. Where did all zir wonderful muscle mass go? What? Ze can’t kick down doors anymore? Or climb up vertical walls anymore? What?!

-Beliefs: Worship and belief is both a blessing and a curse to Noxic. The more people who believe Noxic capable of terrible things, the easier it is for zim to actually do it. But in this age, where no one even knows zir name, Noxic finds zimself weakened beyond anything ze had imagined. Noxic refuses to face the fact that ze will never have that number of worshippers ever again.

Belief also affects Noxic on an individual basis, in a battle of will and doubt. If someone Noxic is tussling with believes they will win, it becomes harder for Noxic to grasp victory. How that manifests depends on what the person is thinking.

(ex. If Noxic is running a race, and one of the runners knows they're faster than Noxic and looks forward to winning, Noxic will find zir stamina has decreased and must fight harder to win. It’s kind of like a debuff, changing to fit what is felt by the opposition)

-Light: Noxic is a personification of darkness and disease. Being in direct sunlight is painful for them, and can cause dizziness, nausea, migraines, and temporary loss of vision. Blasting zim with a bright spell will easily put zim out. It doesn’t even have to be light based. Just… flashy.


SKILLS

Major Skills:

1. Shadow Meld
Tier 1: When standing in darkness, it becomes more difficult to see zim. As of now, Noxic must be motionless, less the illusion weaken.
Tier 2: Darkness clings to Noxic like cobwebs. While motionless in shadows, Noxic becomes one with the darkness. Moving weakens the illusion.
Tier 3: Noxic can slip into darkness and become one with the shadows. Shining  bright light upon zim will eject them from the shadows. Noxic can only move through shadows that are touching.

2. Putrefying liquefaction
Tier 1:  Darkness and disease is what Noxic was feared for, and disease was zir more favored trait. Due to zir diminished state, the most ze can do is rot food and give people a head cold. Noxic can spread this disease by pecking/biting someone and drawing blood.
Tier 2:  In addition to rotting food and giving head colds, Noxic is now able to give people stomach viruses as well. The victim begins to feel nauseous and dizzy very quickly.
Tier 3: Noxic can now inflict moderate physical fatigue as well. The diseases take hold faster than before. 

3. Iron Will
Tier 1: While outside belief can affect Noxic’s abilities, so can zir own confidence in zimself. That arrogance comes in handy at times, as Noxic can unconsciously tip the odds into zir favor by believing in zimself. If zir own will is at odds with what people believe about zim, it can give Noxic a diminished return or cancel out completely.
Tier 2:  Noxic’s will and arrogance has not diminished. Skills that rely on weakness of will and hypnotism do not have a great effect on Noxic.
Tier 3: Skills that rely on telekinesis have a lessened effect on Noxic.

4. Corrosive Fluid
Tier 1: Noxic can cough up a small amount of stomach acid. It can eat through cloth at a slow pace. Causes mild rashes on the skin.
Tier 2: The fluid can now eat through cloth at a decent clip, and will corrode metals after several days. Causes severe rashes and mild burns on the skin.
Tier 3: The fluid almost instantly eats through cloth, goes through metal in several hours, and causes moderate burns and slowly corrodes the flesh if not cleaned off.

5. One with Darkness
This move is used in tandem with Shadow Meld. Once inside the shadows, Noxic can manipulate the physical world by manipulating their shadows. This can work in even absolute darkness.
Tier 1: Noxic’s actions are limited. Ze can move things under 10 pounds, and, if ze makes contact with a person’s shadow, the person can barely feel the contact.
Tier 2:  Ze can now manipulate heavier things and zir affects in the darkness are a bit more tangible in the physical world.
Tier 3: If Noxic hurts your shadow, Noxic hurts your physical self. The effects are highly reduced, causing only mild harm.

Minor Skills:

 1. Night vision
Tier 1: Noxic can see at night as if it were day, which is one reason why bright areas hurt zim so much.
Tier 2:  Moonless nights are easier to see in, and cloudy days do not give Noxic so much trouble.
Tier 3:It is easier to see through thick shadows

2. Medicinal knowledge: 
Tier 1:Having spent a lot of time in the wilds, Noxic knows a lot about herbs and plants. Because ze knows which ones can kill and hurt, it is easy for zim to extrapolate a non-lethal dosage.
Tier 2:  Zir knowledge has extended to more modern forms of extraction. Noxic is able to make weak poisons and medicine with zir plant knowledge.
Tier 3: Noxic can now make more potent poisons and medicine. the poisons cause difficulty breathing and confused mental status. The medicines can heal common colds and migraines.

3. Silent step
Tier 1: When stalking slowly, it is almost impossible to hear Noxic. Stone, gravel, grass, underbrush. Ze moves as silent as the breeze.
Tier 2:  Noxic can now walk more quickly and remain silent.
Tier 3: idk how to be creative w this one. basically, immune to tier 3 improved hearing. z

4. Disease Resistance
Tier 1: Colds and minor illnesses no longer affect Noxic. Noxic cannot be made sick by Tier 1 disease causing abilities.
Tier 2: The flu no longer makes Noxic ill. Noxic cannot be made sick by Tier 2 disease causing abilities.
Tier 3: Other uncommon diseases no longer affect zim. Noxic cannot be made sick by Tier 3 disease causing abilities.

5. Pitch
The easiest way to spread darkness? Take away the light.
Tier 1: Noxic can snuff out candles and small bulbs (handheld stuff).
Tier 2:  Noxic can snuff out torches.
Tier 3: Noxic can burst medium bulbs.


Personality: Despite being treated as a demigod, Noxic was more reviled than revered. Though ze will never admit it - not even to zimself - the isolation hurt. Overtime, Noxic came to the conclusion that the only way to live was to be looked upon in a sick combination of awe and fear. Ze is prideful and arrogant, often boasting of zir abilities and a time when ze was more powerful than anyone could imagine. Unless ze is bragging about zimself, it is difficult to get Noxic to open up. Friendship is far from Noxic’s mind. But, being so weak, perhaps it is a safer bet than being alone.

Still, the world has changed a lot during the millenia in which Noxic slept. Ze is abrasively curious, and determined to learn all ze can about the new things. Not one to be shy about being the center of attention - even if in a negative light - ze will push zir way into conversations and areas that ze deems ze belongs in, despite how unwanted that may be.


Character's Background: Noxic was worshipped as a demi god millenia ago. Feared for zir control over disease and darkness, the worship was more to appease the frightening being and to keep zim away than to uplift and love. Since some attention is better than no attention, Noxic ate this up, answering calls from zir devoted to spread disease to their enemies, ill-luck to their rivals, and, in some instances, fatal accidents to their foes.

It all went downhill when Noxic brought illness to a well-loved village leader. With fervent prayer to a protective deity, Noxic was struck down and left for death. Managing to crawl away, ze dug a hole and hid. And slept. And slept, and slept, and slept.

When ze awoke again, ze was short, feeble, and in a world ze wholly did not recognize. When given the opportunity to have a safe place to study and re-learn the world around zim, Noxic leapt at the chance, if only with the dream of becoming powerful and feared once more.
