Actually that Imperial is kind of small. My main Imp that was changed with a scroll (not sure if that makes a difference) is 30.87 M. So yeah Imps are HUGE I love em'!

Btw very helpful ^_^

oh yeah, I tried to pick out kind of averages for all the dragons' sizes for this chart -- there's definitely larger imps and even smaller fae than that. Imps have a weird range, I've seen some like yours (HUGE ~30m beasties!) and then there are some that are around 15-19m!!

Yeah I know I started taking a look at my other imps and they are oddly tiny compared to her! Β I'm wondering if it has something to do with the ageing system, since my little ones keep growing. If it takes about two cool downs to become full size, that would explain why there are so many that are dwarfish, and others that are pure giants. I mean that's two months!

One of the best charts to date.

I wanna see one of these...alongside the familiars.Β  Like with both dragons and familiars shown on the same size chart.Β  For instance, I have a guardian with a moth familiar...if I ever draw them, I'd need to know how big the moth is in comparison to the dragon.

uropygid In reply to VioletWhirlwind [2013-12-04 22:18:19 +0000 UTC]

ohhhh man yeah I'd love to see some official sizes for the familiars (though in the meantime I suppose I'll just keep making 'em up)... I kind of like to imagine the moths are just the size of large terrestrial moths (because a bunch of dragons panicking about a moth is hilarious), but banasaboat over on tumblr also made this really cute post about familiars that gives a pretty good reason for having a moth the size of a large housecat: meandering-miasma.tumblr.com/p…

hehe that first picture...XD

Hmm...Shade-controlled monsters does make a LOT of sense.Β  Never thought of that before, but I did wonder why they went from fighting you to being your friend, just by defeating them.Β

Hey! I was planning on doing one of these too! You did an awesome job!

Question, when the average sizes were listed in those links, how were they acquired? Via the Growth Specifications on the Site itself? Cause those are for Length, not Height. Last I checked, those were two different things. That's why when I planned on doing a chart, I figured I'd ask ~neondragon myself. ^w^

uropygid In reply to Nikolai-Kalahan [2013-12-04 22:13:55 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!! don't let me stop you from doing your own, either; I'm not the first person to do one and it's a fun exercise. :]

I pulled my sizes, mostly, from this google document cataloguing dragon sizes , and I only accounted for length of course -- it's why I basically chopped up the official art of each dragon breed to straighten out their spines to get the most accurate length measurement. (I wish the site listed height instead, personally; it's much easier for me to imagine relative sizes that way, especially since each dragon has such different neck/body/tail proportions... pretty much led to me assembling this chart!)

Anyhow someone put together that spreadsheet to try and figure out the size ranges for each breed, I believe. However I know not every single measurement on that chart is entirely accurate -- people are supposed to only list full-grown dragons, and dragons should hit their final adult size at the end of their first cooldown. buuut there's some bugs with that (I've seen imps grow or shrink slightly after being bred the first time?? also the skydancers that never grow up???) and I'm not sure everyone checks to make sure their dragon has exceeded their first cooldown, for that matter, so I've taken some liberties with some of the sizes off that spreadsheet.

No problem! Yeah, I've seen Charts for the same thing done multiple times, I'm still gonna do mine!

**looks at the chart**... ...wow...I have no idea what that is. Regardless! Hmm, welp, uh...beyond that, I don't know how to respond to your well written text wall.

Scorpius02 [2013-12-04 20:34:37 +0000 UTC]

So the ridgeback is taller than the guardian. Also, I thought the skydancer would be bigger than that since I describe it to be around a horse size so I can imagine myself riding one.

uropygid In reply to Scorpius02 [2013-12-04 22:06:25 +0000 UTC]

yeah, it looks like a lot of ridgebacks are taller than most imperials, even (though the imperials are much longer and larger overall)! though to be fair ridgebacks have pretty long legs, imperials are kind of stumpy (they are very weasel-shaped).

I'm kind of baffled on skydancers; I swear I've seen Undel/Neondragon describe them as "larger than horses" but the largest SD on the site is still only about 9.8hh, which makes him about as tall as a shetland pony. I know there's that weird size bug where most SDs don't grow out of hatchling size, but the ones that do actually grow up seem to be around 4-5m?Β

I prefer to think of them as the size of turkeys-to-medium-dogs, myself, though I honestly expected them to be, well, horse-sized or a bit larger.

Scorpius02 In reply to uropygid [2013-12-04 22:37:26 +0000 UTC]

Well, I am the one who designed the SD and I remember that I wanted them to be around horse size. I wanted them to be ridable in my imagination.Β

uropygid In reply to Scorpius02 [2013-12-28 18:52:48 +0000 UTC]

Oh no!! well, hopefully whenever they fix the SD size bug, they can nudge the overall sizes up a bit to make them horse-sized! (SDs with saddles though....)

Ahaha me too (though sexes are reversed) and I just. how do

(I myself take dragon sizes with a big ol' block of salt, i.e. I only pay attention to them when I want to for the longest time I thought spirals were supposed to be like 10m+, like the size of large pythons??)
