Description
While the story of Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf is well documented, few folklorists are aware of her later, rather less successful encounter with the Big Bad Polar Bear.Mixed media, 11 x 14. More mucking about with trees and technique. Overall, this image didn't come out how I wanted it to on a number of points (which due to the media, couldn't be fixed without simply repainting the whole image) but live and learn--that's why I'm practicing all these real media, after all. The one thing I was happy with, however, was the polar bear, and his attempts to be sneaky in entirely the wrong habitat. Original is for sale, prints available, visit [link] or send a note.

However wrong the habitat to be sneaky is, ma'am, it appears quite cold. I like that.

oh, poor poor polar bear .. where have his adventurous ways led him to? i hope that damn girl didn't damage his fragile psyche as much as she did with the wolf
you are so much more successfull riding da hood than she is
and your trees are just hot! i really enjoy their structure. they look so delicious, like intricate, green cake icing
also, big compliments on your sense of depth and shading .. something i still have masses to learn in!
i will remember your trick of using shades of blue for farther away-tree trunks
i give this deviation six out of six stars for the originality of the subject and the beautiful execution!

your works and legends are true and coming from the childish side of the heart (many artists are trying to return to their naaive side but few succeed)...
i think you SHOULD make children books, dispite you dont want to.
think about it - all over the world, children will grow with those magical paintings and be enriched.
it's a huge waste if you dont do that...

He's a very weasely lookin' polar bear. If I was just told the story without the image, I'd imagine the armored bears from His dark Materials, actually.

one more thing... i dunno if you, or anyone else see this... in the trees, parts of them seem to resemble skulls... maybe a foreshadow of the next scene in some unconcious (sp?) way??
